Zirconium modified pomegranate peel for efficient removal of arsenite from water
We developed a novel biosorbent based on zirconium-modified pomegranate peel (SPP@Zr) for efficient arsenic (As(III)) removal from water. SEM, EDX, XRD, and FTIR were used to characterize the prepared biosorbent. The batch adsorption method was used to evaluate the adsorption viability of biosorbents for the removal of As(III) from water.

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.

Rational production of veneer by IR-heating of green wood during peeling: Modeling experiments [PDF]
Heating green wood logs by infrared (IR) radiation during peeling for veneer production has been numerically simulated, focusing on the heating kinetics of a green wood cylinder rotating with a decreasing radius.

The ubiquitin system in normal and infected germinal center B cells
The ubiquitin system plays a central role in germinal center (GC) B cells, influencing differentiation to long‐lived memory B cells. Oncogenic gammaherpesviruses gain access to memory B cells by establishing latency in GC B cells. Mapping ubiquitin mechanisms in normal and infected GC B cells will define specific molecular circuits in B cells germane ...

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

Evaluation of the Efficiency of Cassava Peel as a Cement Retarder in Oil Well Cementing
Cementing around the casing in oil and gas wells provides proper zonal isolation, holds the casing in place and prevents fluid migration. This procedure is an important part of completing the process and well plugging for abandonment. Retarders are one of the most important additives in oil well cementing if the desired pumping time of cementitious ...

Development of a highly efficient plant for separating the peel from the pulp of melons
The object of study is the development of an installation for separating the peel of melon crops (watermelon, pumpkin) for their further processing. The peel of melons contains important compounds such as minerals, polyunsaturated fatty acids, tocopherols, polyphenols, carotenoids and phytosterols.
