Narrative Pedagogies for Peer Groups
2014Abstract The aim of this chapter is to feature exemplars of narrative pedagogies used in teacher education in Finland. The theoretical framework of the chapter is based on two commitments. First, we argue that narrative pedagogies are meaningful, since becoming and being a teacher is a constantly changing and developing identity story.

Peer-to-peer and group collaboration do they always match?
13th IEEE International Workshops on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises, 2005Online collaboration systems allow workers to cooperate and communicate with each other even if working in dispersed settings. They enable frictionless sharing of explicit and implicit knowledge. Several applications that implement a support media for team and group collaboration are implemented and already used for a long time. Since some time Peer-to-

Peer group rendezvous using intersection among peer groups on DHT
2004 International Symposium on Applications and the Internet Workshops. 2004 Workshops., 2004Peer group, a concept originally introduced in IS-IS toolkit, is a strong method to support dynamic coordination among huge numbers of networked devices. Despite its strength, we still have only a few good method to support the concept. The author proposes a method of dynamic peer discovery (rendezvous) using very simple set operation on peer groups ...

Group-Based Search in Unstructured Peer-to-Peer Networks
GLOBECOM 2009 - 2009 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2009Searching in unstructured peer-to-peer network with scalability and effectiveness is still a challenging problem. Recently in many applications, one-hop index replication becomes a fundamental technique for improving the search performance. However, when we extend one-hop index replication to multiple hops for locating both popular contents and rare ...

Group-Based Peer-to-Peer 3D Streaming Authentication
2009 15th International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems, 2009In this paper, we present an authentication scheme for group-based peer-to-peer 3D streaming that takes advantage of secure group communication to reduce computation overheads of authentication. Users of the same interest first form a group, and one of the users is then elected to be the trusted leader, who is to download 3D contents, to verify their ...

Dynamic group communication in mobile peer-to-peer environments
Proceedings of the 2005 ACM symposium on Applied computing, 2005This paper presents an approach to integrate publish/subscribe semantics with on-demand multicast in wireless ad hoc networks, providing dynamic group communication with fine-grained subscriptions. A prototype application 'PGM Golf Forum' is developed, which enables a dynamic publish/subscribe system among the gallery during a golf tournament.

Group Matching for Peer Mentorship in Small Groups
2017The problem of assigning learners to groups is essential in collaborative venture like group peer mentorship. Usually, in group peer mentorship, the group of peers is focused on one topic or question, and engage in discussion, argumentation, and providing criticism and constructive feedback, related to the individual contributions made by the ...

Autonomic Group Protocol for Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Systems
2004We discuss a group protocol which supports applications with group communication service in change of QoS supported by networks and required by applications. An autonomic group protocol is realized by cooperation of multiple autonomous agents. Each agent autonomously takes a class of each protocol function.

Grouped Peer-to-Peer networks and self-organization algorithm
SMC'03 Conference Proceedings. 2003 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. Conference Theme - System Security and Assurance (Cat. No.03CH37483), 2004Locating contents is an essential function, but a very difficult and challenging problem for large-scale Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems. For this problem, many P2P systems, architectures, and search strategies are proposed. In this paper, we focus on the self-organization of a group structure based on the local interest for P2P systems and propose a self ...

Peer Influence and Selection in Peer Groups
2006The findings given in Chapter 6 were based on cross-sectional, complete network data, so changes in the teenagers’ substance use within their peer groups could not be attributed to peer influence or selection based on these data alone. But retrospective data were also collected on the timing of the formation of peer ties and the timing of the first use
