Postoperative Weight Gain, Due to Fluid Retention After Ovarian Cancer Surgery—How Much Is too Much?

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Postoperative complications after cytoreductive surgery in ovarian cancer patients are associated with impaired survival. Here, we investigated the association between postoperative weight gain due to fluid retention and the development of complications and anastomotic leakage (AL).

Predictive Modelling of Solvent Effects on Drug Incorporation into Polymeric Nanocarriers: A Machine Learning Approach

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
When seeking nanoparticles with elevated drug loading content, the experimental setup, including solvent selection, is crucial. Through machine learning, we pinpointed that the drug's solubility in the organic solvent is the key factor for attaining high drug loading content.

On the performance of 1-level LDPC lattices

open access: yes, 2013
The low-density parity-check (LDPC) lattices perform very well in high dimensions under generalized min-sum iterative decoding algorithm. In this work we focus on 1-level LDPC lattices.

Edges as ecological filters: Asymmetrical orientation‐specific arthropod activity across forest boundaries

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Moderate retention forestry creates structurally sharp forest edges that act as ecological filters, shaping orientation‐specific activity of ground‐dwelling arthropods. Using drift‐fence pitfall traps, we show that activity aligned with ecotones is more frequent than activity across forest–clearcut boundaries, particularly among detritivores.

Fundamental parameters of RR Lyrae stars from multicolour photometry and Kurucz atmospheric models -- III. SW And, DH Peg, CU Com, DY Peg

open access: yes, 2014
We report the most comprehensive UBV(RI)_C observations of the bright, radially pulsating field stars SW And, DH Peg, CU Com, DY Peg. Long term variation has been found in the ultraviolet colour curves of SW And and DH Peg.
