Removal of thiophene from model oil by polyethylene glycol via forming deep eutectic solvents

open access: yesGreen Processing and Synthesis, 2021
The removal of organosulfurs from liquid fuel has become a hot issue due to the serious environmental pollution by sulfur oxide gases. In this study, the removal of thiophene from model oil was carried out using polyethylene glycol (PEG).

Ultrasound assisted siRNA delivery using PEG-siPlex loaded microbubbles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Short interfering RNA (siRNA) attracts much attention for the treatment of various diseases. However, its delivery, especially via systemic routes, remains a challenge. Indeed, naked siRNAs are rapidly degraded, while complexed siRNAs massively aggregate

Structure and dynamics of supercooled water in the hydration layer of poly(ethylene glycol)

open access: yesStructural Dynamics, 2022
The statics and dynamics of supercooled water in the hydration layer of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) were studied by a combination of quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS) and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.

Optimization of graphene-based materials outperforming host epoxy matrices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The degree of graphite exfoliation and edge-carboxylated layers can be controlled and balanced to design lightweight materials characterized by both low electrical percolation thresholds (EPT) and improved mechanical properties.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Inhibition of Aβ Aggregation by Cholesterol-End-Modified PEG Vesicles and Micelles

open access: yesPharmaceutics
Background/Objectives: This study aimed to design and evaluate Chol-PEG2000 micelles and Chol-PEG500 vesicles as drug delivery system (DDS) carriers and inhibitors of amyloid-β (Aβ) aggregation, a key factor in Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

Changes in Gastroesophageal Reflux in Patients With Nasogastric Tube Followed by Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2011
Despite frequent use of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) for enteral feeding, the relationship between it and gastroesophageal reflux (GER) remains an incompletely answered question.

Response surface methodology approach to study the influence of PEG and water in cellulose acetate dialysis membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Flat sheet asymmetric dialysis membranes were fabricated using phase inversion method from polymer solution consisting of cellulose acetate, acetic acid, polyethylene glycol (PEG) and distilled water. The effect of acetic acid/PEG ratio and the distilled

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
