Pejerrey Odontesthes bonariensis

2017
Pejerrey Odontesthes bonariensis was reared in the recirculation system for 1 year. The system consisted of two particle-trap equipped octagonal tanks (0.75 m3) for the rapid collection of feces and uneaten feed, a mechanical filter, a UV unit, a biological filter which provided nitrification, and a hollow-fiber oxygen injection system.

Cooling of pejerrey Odontesthes bonariensis (Teleostei, Atherinidae) embryos at sub-zero temperatures

Theriogenology, 2020
Pejerrey fish (Odontesthes bonariensis) is a seasonal multiple spawner with great economic importance and an adequate species for Aquaculture. For these reasons, it is necessary to apply biotechnologies to optimize its reproduction in captivity. In this context, the aim of this work was to develop a cooling protocol for pejerrey embryos at sub-zero ...

Molecular cloning, expression and immunological characterization of pejerrey (Odontesthes bonariensis) growth hormone

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part C: Toxicology & Pharmacology, 2006
Growth hormone is an essential polypeptide required for normal growth and development of vertebrates. The pejerrey fish, Odontesthes bonariensis, is a South American atherinid freshwater fish considered as a promising species for aquaculture. Although growth hormone has been characterized in a number of fish, there are no published data on the ...

Effects of a glyphosate-based herbicide in pejerrey Odontesthes humensis embryonic development

Chemosphere, 2017
Glyphosate-based herbicides (GBH) are the major pesticides used worldwide. Among them, the Roundup formulations are the most popular. Some aspects of GBH toxicity are well known, such as induction of oxidative stress. However, embryotoxicity is scarcely known.

Mycobacterium infection in pejerrey, Odonthestes bonariensis Cuvier & Valenciennes

Journal of Fish Diseases, 1993
Abstract. Mycobacterium infection was found in pejerrey, Odonthestes bonariensis Cuvier & Valenciennes, with and without saprolegniasis, in Japan. Many typical focal mycobacterial granulomas were found in the kidney, spleen, liver and pancreas, but they were not found in lateral musculature at sites of fungal infection, or in the intestine, ovary,

Aspectos históricos e importancia regional del pejerrey bonaerense

2001

Effects of Hypoxia on the Reproductive Endocrine Axis of the Pejerrey (Odontesthes Bonariensis)

Fish Physiology and Biochemistry
Recently, hypoxic areas have been identified in water bodies of the Pampas region due to human activity. The objective of this work was to study the effect of low concentrations of dissolved oxygen (hypoxia) on the reproductive endocrine axis of a pampas fish (Odontesthes bonariensis). Groups of 8 males and 8 females were subjected to severe hypoxia (2-
