Reproductive efficiency of Pelibuey and Romanov × Pelibuey ewes synchronized with synthetic progesterone and low doses of PMSG under a hot environment [PDF]
Thirty-nine multiparous ewes (19 Pelibuey and 20 Romanov × Pelibuey) treated with fluorogestone acetate impregnated intravaginal sponges were used to evaluate the effects of low pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG) doses and genotype on their ...

Glycerol Supplementation During Oestrus Synchronisation With Fluorogestone Acetate Affects Follicular Proliferation, Maturation and Apoptosis of Granulosa Cells in Pelibuey Ewes. [PDF]
ABSTRACT This study investigated the impact of glycerol supplementation on the expression of markers associated with follicular proliferation, maturation and apoptosis in Pelibuey ewes synchronised with long (11 days) and short (5 days) protocols using intravaginal fluorogestone acetate (FGA).

Residual Feed Intake and Rumen Metabolism in Growing Pelibuey Sheep. [PDF]
This study was carried out to evaluate the residual feed intake (RFI), volatile fatty acid (VFA) production and enteric methane (CH4) from growing Pelibuey sheep. In this case, 12 non-castrated Pelibuey with an initial average live weight (LW) of 21.17 ± 3.87 kg and an age of 3 months, were housed in individual pens and fed a basal diet with 16% of ...

Effect of Astragalus mollissimus on Ruminal Fermentation, Methane Production and Performance of Sheep. [PDF]
The effects of A. mollissimus (AM) supplementation on methane (CH4) production, volatile fatty acids, animal performance and nitro compound presence in blood were evaluated through two experiments. Results showed an CH4 reduction by up to 60%. No adverse effects on animal performance and no detectable nitro compound in plasma were reported.

Udder Measurements and Their Relationship with Milk Yield in Pelibuey Ewes. [PDF]
The study aimed to evaluate the relationship between udder measurements and milk yield (MY) in dairy Pelibuey ewes. Udder measurements were taken twice a week for eight weeks before (initial) and after (final) milking, including udder depth (UD), udder circumference (UC), udder width (UW), teat length (TL) and teat diameter (TD) in 38 multiparous ewes.

Impacts of short-term water restriction on Pelibuey sheep: physiological and blood parameters [PDF]
Abstract One of the projected effects of climate change is a reduction in rainfall in certain regions of the world. Hence, the agricultural and livestock sectors will have to cope with increasing incidences of water shortage whilst still maintaining productivity levels to feed an ever increasing global population.

Study aimed to examine the influence of gender on carcass traits and meat quality of Romanov breed lambs. Lamb gender had a significant influence on several carcass traits, 10‐heptadecenoic, linoleic, and total polyunsaturated fatty acids profile. Male meat had a significantly higher lightness, lower redness, and higher values of pH and cooking loss. A

Ovine Progressive Pneumonia: Diagnosis and Seroprevalence in the South of Sonora, Mexico
Ovine progressive pneumonia (OPP) is the most severe presentation of small ruminant lentivirus (SRLV) infection known as Maedi‐Visna. Serological evidence in Mexico of the presence of this lentivirus was published in 1986. After that, studies revealed that SRLVs have a broad distribution in Mexico by detecting antibodies or/and molecular tests; however,
