Liquisolid Pellets and Liqui-Pellets Are Not Different
AAPS PharmSciTech, 2020Our research group has pioneered the development of liquisolid pellets as a new drug delivery system targeting at the improvement of the dissolution rates of poorly water-soluble drugs, combining the technological and biopharmaceutical advantages of both multiparticulate and liquisolid systems.

Pellets and Techniques of Pelletization
Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology, 2019Background In the present day scenario, where novel drug delivery system and controlled drug delivery systems have been developed over the conventional oral solid dosage forms, pellets emerged as a versatile delivery system. Pelletization is a technique to obtain pellets or spherical particles having a dimensions between 0.5 - 1.5 mm.

Pelletization of torrefied sawdust and properties of torrefied pellets
Applied Energy, 2012Pelletization of torrefied sawdust from a fluidized bed reactor was investigated to quantify the energy consumption and pellet properties, including moisture adsorption, pellet density and Meyer hardness. Energy consumptions in compaction and extrusion for torrefied sawdust were significantly higher than those for untreated sawdust at the same ...

AbstractAminoacylase was immobilized on the mycelium pellets of Aspergillus ochraceus by using albumin and glutaraldehyde. No difference in the optimum pH was observed between native aminoacylase and aminoacylase pellets. The amino‐acylase pellets were stable in pH 4–8 but they were unstable in alkaline conditions.

Moving behavior of pellets in a pellet shaft furnace
Journal of Central South University of Technology, 2008The downward moving behavior of pellets in a 8 m2 pellet shaft furnace with an internal vertical air channel and a drying bed was studied by means of a visualized model (1:15) and a top model (1:1). The visualized model experiment shows that the downward movement of pellets can be regarded as plug flow approximately inside the furnace except for the ...

Insights into the functionality of pelletization aid in pelletization by extrusion-spheronization
Pharmaceutical Development and Technology, 2011This study investigated the particle sizes of pelletization aids from the different wet processing steps of extrusion-spheronization, and their influence on rheological and pellet properties. Three commercial microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) grades, three commercial cross-linked polyvinyl pyrrolidone (X-PVP) grades and two agglomerated X-PVP grades ...

Compaction studies on pellets I. Uncoated pellets
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 1993Abstract Compaction characteristics of Surelease coated pellets were studied using several techniques including porosity change, Heckel equation, total work of compaction and elastic recovery indices. The reduction in yield strength and an increase in tensile strength of the compacts caused by the addition of a Surelease coating to the pellets is ...

Theoretical effects on pellet cracking of friction at pellet-pellet interfaces
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1976Abstract The most likely position for fracture to occur in the cladding on a nuclear fuel element was shown, in the earlier work, to be the point above the place where a radial crack emerges through the end face of the pellet. In this paper it is shown that friction between the contacting surfaces of two adjacent pellets will tend to make cracks ...

Differences in Characteristics of Pellets Prepared by Different Pelletization Methods
Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2008Pellets are currently a very popular dosage form for oral application. They can be prepared by several pelletization techniques. Extrusion/spheronization, commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry, and modern agglomeration in a rotoprocessor were the methods chosen for pellet preparation in our study.
