Thermodynamic consideration of thermoelectricity in metals was applied to the Peltier effect, like it was done recently for the Seebeck effect. The Peltier coefficient was derived from the difference in the total energy of electrons in two metals in contact: Π=ɛ0 Tln(1+TΘV), where ɛ0 is the ‘universal’ sensitivity of ...

Some experiments with peltier effect
Electrical Engineering, 1951The Peltier effect has long been neglected by electrical engineers. Lately, however, experiments have been made on new alloys to determine the practicability of using the Peltier effect in a thermoelectric power generator.

Optimization of Peltier thermocouple using distributed Peltier effect
Eighteenth International Conference on Thermoelectrics. Proceedings, ICT'99 (Cat. No.99TH8407), 2003Calculations of maximum temperature difference and coefficient of performance of double segment Peltier thermocouple are presented. Distinction of thermoelectric properties of p- and n-type segments is taken into account. Obtained results are compared with measured characteristics of manufactured Peltier thermocouples.

Thermal electrodes based on “peltier effect”
Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1962Abstract Solid state “Peltier” electrodes have been constructed for thermal stimulation of the cortex, subcortex, skin and other organs. They are simple to operate and permit a fine control of the rate and extent of warming and cooling within a limited temperature range.

A brief consideration of the theory of the Peltier effect is followed by a consideration of thermoelectric cooling modules and some of their practical applications. An experiment is described in which sixth formers are asked to design a refrigerator around a cooling module and it is shown that the ability of the schoolboys to tackle a practical problem

Nonlinear Peltier effect in semiconductors
Applied Physics Letters, 2007Nonlinear Peltier coefficient of a doped InGaAs semiconductor is calculated numerically using the Monte Carlo technique. The Peltier coefficient is also obtained analytically for single parabolic band semiconductors assuming a shifted Fermi-Dirac electronic distribution under an applied bias.

Observation of the “Dielectric Peltier Effect”
Europhysics Letters (EPL), 1993The theoretically predicted appearance of the temperature difference between the opposite sides of charging or discharging capacitors was observed for the first time. The capacitor of ferroelectric PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3 crystal with Ni electrodes was charged applying the field to E = 106 V/m with the time constant ≈ 10−5 s. The temperature difference at 300 K

Peltier effects in electrode carbon
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B, 1998The thermoelectric power of a cell with platinum electrodes and a carbon conductor was determined. The electromotive force (emf) was measured as a function of the temperature difference between the electrodes at temperatures varying from 310 °C to 970 °C.

Use of the peltier effect in calorimetry
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 19681. A new method of measuring endothermic heat effects with the aid of the exothermic Peltier effect has been developed. 2. The dependence of the heat effect in that part of the thermocouple included in the calorimeter system on the magnitude and direction of the current in the thermocouple circuit has been analyzed. 3.
