Advanced HIV disease: A review of diagnostic and prophylactic strategies

open access: yesHIV Medicine, Volume 24, Issue 8, Page 859-876, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Background Despite expanded access to antiretroviral therapy (ART) and the rollout of the World Health Organization's (WHO) ‘test‐and‐treat’ strategy, the proportion of people with HIV (PWH) presenting with advanced HIV disease (AHD) remains unchanged at approximately 30%. Fifty percent of persons with AHD report prior engagement to care.

Crossover between the control of fungal pathogens in medicine and the wider environment, and the threat of antifungal resistance

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 71, Issue 1, Page 131-149, January 2022., 2022
The origin and emergence of resistance to antifungal compounds are evaluated and potential “hot spots” identified for major life‐theatening fungal human pathogens in medical and environmental settings. Abstract Fungal propagules existing in the natural environment can easily be transmitted to the human body, mostly by inhalation of contaminated air or ...

Novel 1, 2, 4‐Triazoles as Antifungal Agents

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
The development of innovative antifungal agents is essential. Some fungicidal agents are no longer effective due to resistance development, various side effects, and high toxicity. Therefore, the synthesis and development of some new antifungal agents are necessary. 1,2,4‐Triazole is one of the most essential pharmacophore systems between five‐membered

Multicentre derivation and validation of a prognostic scoring system for mortality assessment in HIV‐infected patients with talaromycosis

open access: yesMycoses, Volume 64, Issue 2, Page 203-211, February 2021., 2021
Abstract Background Although the widespread use of modern antiretroviral therapy (ART) has reduced the incidence of talaromycosis in people living with HIV, mortality remains as high as 20% in this population, even after appropriate antifungal treatment.
