Utilización de enzimas fibrolíticas para mejorar la digestión de forrajes tropicales. I. Influencia del método de aplciacion en la producción de gas in vitro y la composición química [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Los forrajes tropicales presentan, en general, un menor valor nutritivo que los forrajes de zonas templadas. Sin embargo, su disponibilidad suele ser elevada y en numerosas ocasiones son el único recurso alimenticio disponible para los animales ...

Phytoremediation of landfill leachate using Pennisetum clandestinum.

open access: yesJournal of environmental biology, 2005
Landfills are still the most widely used solid waste disposal method used across the world, Leachate generated from landfill areas exerts environmental risks mostly on surface and groundwater, with its high pollutant content, most notably metals, which cause an unbearable lower water quality.

Fifteen years of findings: Advancements in spring dead spot research from 2009 to 2024

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 65, Issue 1, January/February 2025.
Abstract Spring dead spot (Ophiosphaerella spp.; SDS) is one of the most detrimental diseases to warm‐season turfgrasses, particularly bermudagrass (Cynodon spp.), growing in climates where cold temperatures induce dormancy. The pathogen can infect the crowns, stolons, rhizomes, and roots of bermudagrass most of the year, but infection in the fall ...

Non‐native invasive plants in tropical dry forests: a global review of presence, impacts, and management

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 1, January 2025.
Tropical dry forests (TDF) are among the most‐threatened terrestrial ecosystems, experiencing ongoing conversion to agricultural fields, pasture, and human settlements. Human disturbances are often precursors to invasion of ecosystems by non‐native species, but research on invasion patterns in tropical ecosystems is sparse, and there is no ...

Conservation status of three rare endemic Phaseolus bean (Leguminosae, Phaseoleae) species of Costa Rica

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2024, Issue 12, December 2024.
We aimed at an inventory of all populations of wild Phaseolus (bean) species in Costa Rica, in relation to future plant breeding. During the field work in 2003–2018, three new and rare bean species (i.e. P. albicarminus, P. angucianae and P. hygrophilus) were found in different montane forest habitats which originally occupy a small acreage.
