AbstractIn this work, we report the synthesis, spectroscopic characterization, and theoretical analysis of a linearly conjugated pentacene‐fused porphyrin dimer and cross‐conjugated quinone‐fused dinaphtho[2,3]porphyrins. These multichromophoric systems display non‐typical UV‐visible absorptions of either porphyrins or pentacenes/quinones.

Ubiquitous Pentacene Monolayer on Metals Deposited onto Pentacene Films
Langmuir, 2007Photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS and UPS) was used to study the deposition of metal layers (Ag, Cu, and Au) onto pentacene films. Very low work functions were measured (PhiAg = 3.91 eV, PhiCu = 3.93 eV, and PhiAu = 4.3 eV) for all of the metals, in agreement with results from the literature.

Pentacene and poly-pentacene as graphene nanoribbons

Robust, Soluble Pentacene Ethers
Organic Letters, 2004We report the synthesis and characterization of a series of alkoxy-substituted silylethynylated pentacene derivatives (R = CH(2)CH(2), CHCH, CH(2)). All three compounds are easily prepared, soluble in common organic solvents, and stable both as solids and in solution.

Chinese Physics B, 2008A comprehensive understanding of the organic semiconductor material pentacene is meaningful for organic field-effect transistors (OFETs).
