Toward the peri‐Pentacene Framework

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2013
AbstractBased on modern pyrene chemistry, a new route toward the synthesis of the peri‐pentacene framework was developed. Firstly, the tetraketo form as stable precursor was targeted, because the fully aromatic peri‐pentacene is predicted to suffer from high instability and reactivity.

Photostability of pentacene and 6,13-disubstituted pentacene derivatives: a theoretical and experimental mechanistic study

Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences, 2008
Computational and experimental studies have been performed to investigate the photostability of a series of 6,13-bis(arylalkynyl)-substituted pentacenes in the presence of oxygen. These studies indicate that photostabilization occurs through a selective LUMO orbital stabilization as has been seen previously for 6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl ...

Exploring the Energetic Deposition of Pentacene on Pentacene through Molecular Dynamics Simulations

The Journal of Physical Chemistry C, 2007
We use molecular dynamics simulations to explore in detail the factors affecting the behavior of an incident pentacene molecule colliding with the pentacene (010) step edge. We examine the effect of molecular orientation in conjunction with incident kinetic energy (Ei) and angle (θi) of the incoming molecule and proximity of the collision of the ...

A Pentacene with a 144° Twist

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2004
9,10,11,20,21,22-Hexaphenyltetrabenzo[a,c,l,n]pentacene (1) was prepared by the reaction of 1,3-diphenylphenanthro[9,10-c]furan with the bisaryne equivalent generated from 1,2,4,5-tetrabromo-3,6-diphenylbenzene in the presence of n-butyllithium, followed by deoxygenation of the double adduct with low-valent titanium.

Effects of Ultraviolet Irradiation on Conductivity of Pentacene and Contact Resistivity of Au/Pentacene

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2008
The effects of ultraviolet (UV) irradiation on the electrical properties of pentacene were investigated in this study. Spectroscopic methods and electrical conductivity measurements were used to characterize the conducting molecule pentacene with and without UV irradiation.
