Heterofission of pentacene excited singlets in pentacene-doped tetracene crystals
Chemical Physics Letters, 1971Abstract The magnetic field dependence of the fluorescence of pentacene-doped tetracene single crystals indicates that following energy transfer to pentacene, the trapped pentacene singlet fissions into one tetracene triplet exciton and one pentacene triplet (estimated energy 0.81 ± 0.02 eV).

A new functionalization strategy for pentacene
Chemical Communications, 2007Functionalization of the pro-cata positions of pentacene with groups held perpendicular to the aromatic plane, in this case through a rigid 1,3-dioxole unit, yields pentacene derivatives that are stable and soluble, and still maintain edge-to-face interactions in the solid state.

Exploring Electronically Polarized Pentacenes
Organic Letters, 2008Unsymmetrically functionalized pentacenes with electron-rich and/or -poor substituents at the 6- and 13-positions were synthesized. The electronic influence was evaluated by solution-state UV-vis absorption and emission spectroscopies. These materials exhibit good solubility in common organic solvents and are stable in the presence of air and water.

Photochemical Stability of Pentacene and a Substituted Pentacene in Solution and in Thin Films
Chemistry of Materials, 2004The organic semiconductor pentacene (1) has shown the highest field effect mobilities in thin films of any organic semiconductor, yet suffers from instability toward oxidation. 6,13-Bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)pentacene (2) has been reported as an interesting functionalized pentacene which is soluble in common organic solvents and exhibits high ...

Langmuir, 2010
The molecular structure of thin pentacene film grown on a Cu(119) surface has been studied by near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy. The interaction between the π-molecular orbitals delocalized on the aromatic rings and the underlying copper substrate was deduced from XAS spectra.

Exploring the polymorphism of crystalline pentacene
Organic Electronics, 2004Abstract Starting from each of the five complete X-ray structures published so far for crystalline pentacene, we have computed the structures of minimum potential energy, and obtained two local minima of the potential energy, i.e., two different “inherent structures” of mechanical equilibrium.

Photochemical Formation of Substituted Pentacenes
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2008Substituted pentacenes (8a, 8b, 14a, and 14b) were prepared by Strating-Zwanenburg photodecarbonylation of diones (7a, 7b, 13a, and 13b). The compounds are red and stable in the solid state under inert atmosphere as well as in degassed solutions, but not in air.

Thermal Decomposition of Pentacene Oxyradicals
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2011The energetics and kinetics of the thermal decomposition of pentacene oxyradicals were studied using a combination of ab initio electronic structure theory and energy-transfer master equation modeling. The rate coefficients of pentacene oxyradical decomposition were computed for the range of 1500-2500 K and 0.01-10 atm and found to be both temperature ...
