Electrochemical removal of pentachlorophenol in a lab-scale platinum electrolyzer

open access: yes, 2010
This study is focused on the removal of pentachlorophenol from its aqueous phase by electrochemically induced degradation with Pt electrodes. The objective of this study was to contrast the electrochemical removal of pentachlorophenol at the oxidative ...

The 2024 European Union report on pesticide residues in food

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Under European Union legislation (Article 32, Regulation (EC) No 396/2005), the European Food Safety Authority publishes an annual report assessing pesticide residue levels in food. In 2024, 9842 samples were analysed as part of the EU‐coordinated multiannual control programme subset, of which 1.2% were found to be non‐compliant.

A new split‐luciferase complementation assay identifies pentachlorophenol as an inhibitor of apoptosome formation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, 2019
The expense and time required for in vivo reproductive and developmental toxicity studies have driven the development of in vitro alternatives. Here, we used a new in vitro split luciferase‐based assay to screen a library of 177 toxicants for inhibitors ...

How Does Biological Sex Impact Mucosal Bacterial Infection? Mucosal Defenses and Bacterial Detection

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 338, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Urinary tract infections possess substantial sex disparities in the incidence, immune response, and progression of infection. Some of these distinctions may be due to sexual dimorphism in mucosal barriers or sex differences in the initial immune response to infection.

Application of Electro-Fenton (EF) Process to the Removal of Pentachlorophenol from Aqueous Solutions [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Oil & Gas Science and Technology, 2015
Pentachlorophenol (PCP) is a very hazardous compound which enters into the environment by industries such as refineries and petrochemicals. As its biological degradation is very slow, this use may cause the pollution of soils and groundwater; with the ...

Surface Sulfate Modification Promoted Excitons Extraction of BiOBr Nanosheets for Efficient 1O2 Photosynthesis and Chlorophenols Dechlorination

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Photocatalytic molecular oxygen (O2) activation provides a sustainable approach to produce singlet oxygen (1O2) for organic contaminants detoxification. However, the charge carriers‐involved pathway usually suffers from unsatisfactory 1O2 production efficiency owing to energy loss caused by photogenerated hole‐mediated superoxide species (•O2−

Pressurised liquid extraction of pentachlorophenol from dyestuffs and cotton

open access: yes, 2000
Pressurised liquid extraction (PLE) was used to extract pentachlorophenol from cotton and dyestuffs. Five dyes and one dyed cotton were investigated for pentachlorophenol.

Evaluation of the pollution pressures posed by groups of chemicals on British riverine invertebrate populations

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 1, Page 106-127, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Globally, rivers receive a diverse range of chemicals, including metals, pesticides, persistent organic pollutants, petrochemicals, human and veterinary pharmaceuticals and personal care products. However, the extent to which these different chemical groups affect riverine invertebrate communities is not well defined.

Biomass‐Derived Carbon Photocatalysts for Organic Pollutant Degradation: Strategies and Perspectives

open access: yesCarbon Neutralization, Volume 5, Issue 1, January 2026.
Recent advances in biomass‐derived carbon photocatalysts are highlighted, focusing on synthesis, surface engineering, and mechanisms such as ROS generation and band‐gap tuning. Heteroatom doping, heterojunctions, and hybrid architectures boost visible‐light activity, while scalability and stability challenges are addressed for practical environmental ...
