Regiospecific photohydroxyalkylation of pentafluoropyridine

Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry, 1978
AbstractIrradiation of 1‐hydroxyalkane solutions of pentafluoropyridine in the presence of benzo‐phenone resulted in regiospecific substitution at position 4, thus forming 2,3,5,6‐tetrafluoro‐4‐(1‐hydroxyalkyl)pyridine.

Reaction of sodium diethylnitroxide with fluorobenzenes, pentafluoropyridine and halogenopyridines

Journal of Fluorine Chemistry, 1989
Abstract Treatment of pentafluoropyridine with sodium diethylnitroxide in diethyl ether gave tetrafluoropyridines 4-RC 5 F 4 N(R = ONEt 2 , NEt 2 , NHEt and O − H 2 N + Et 2 ); in the presence of p -dinitrobenzene only the hydroxylamine (R = ONEt 2 ) was detected.

BINOL Modification via SNAr Reactions with Pentafluoropyridine

Mendeleev Communications, 2015
(R)- and (S)-binaphthyl-2,2’-diols (BINOLs) smoothly react with pentafluoropyridine without racemization to give (R)- and (S)-2,2’- bis(tetrafluoropyridin-4-yloxy)-1,1’-binaphthyls. The 2(6)-positioned pyridine fluorine atoms can be replaced with amino moieties by reactions with amines.

Nuclear magnetic double and triple resonance studies on pentafluoropyridine

Journal of the Chemical Society, Faraday Transactions 2, 1972
Removing the broadening effect of the 14N nucleus by strong irradiation has made it possible to determine all the relative signs of the FF coupling constants in pentafluoropyridine by double and triple resonance experiments. It is also shown that the coupling constants depend upon solvent.

Hetarenium salts from pentafluoropyridine. Syntheses, spectroscopic properties, and applications

Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry, 2007
Abstractmagnified imageReaction of pentafluoropyridine with nucleophilic heteroaromatics such as 4‐(dimethylamino)pyridine, 4‐(pyrrolidin‐1‐yl)pyridine, 4‐(morpholin‐4‐yl)pyridine, 4‐aminopyridine, and 3,4‐diaminopyridine resulted in the formation of 4‐hetarenium substituted tetrafluoropyridines.
