A Biochemically “Silent” Aortocaval Paraganglioma in a 19‐Year‐Old Female Causing Intraoperative Hypertensive Crisis: A Rare Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Paragangliomas may appear biochemically silent, yet still behave as functional tumors with severe intraoperative consequences. Normal preoperative catecholamine screening does not exclude the risk of hypertensive crisis during surgery.

Haemoglobin A1c Time‐In‐Range and Mortality in Adults With Diabetes

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 3, May 2026.
Reduced A1c time in range and particularly greater time below range are associated with increased mortality in adults with diabetes. A1c stability within person‐specific ranges may be a risk predictor for major outcomes in adults with diabetes. ABSTRACT Introduction Glycemic variability over time is a risk factor for diabetes complications.

Bipolar Disorder Hospitalization in Older Adults: A Nationwide Retrospective Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, Volume 41, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Bipolar disorder (BD) in older adults is linked to significant medical comorbidities and hospitalization burden, yet nationwide data remain scarce. This study aims to compare younger versus older BD hospitalization trends, patient characteristics, and the impact of comorbidities on hospitalization outcomes in Portugal (2008–2015 ...

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, Volume 82, Issue 5, Page 1178-1192, May 2026.
Factors related to loss to follow‐up and low compliance in Helicobacter pylori‐infected children. Prehospital Risk Stratification Using Unsupervised Machine Learning in STEMI

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 56, Issue 5, May 2026.
Machine learning identified three phenotypes with 30‐day mortality of 3.4%, 22.1%, and 75%. Phenotype‐2 reveals an "occult high‐risk" group: hemodynamically stable yet six‐fold higher mortality. ABSTRACT Background ST‐elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) exhibits substantial clinical heterogeneity complicating prehospital risk stratification ...

Novel optimization of multi‐mechanistic approaches for the acute treatment of a migraine attack: A review

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, Volume 66, Issue 5, Page 1181-1192, May 2026.
Abstract Objective To highlight key factors required to optimize multi‐mechanistic approaches with oral combination treatments for the acute management of a migraine attack. Background Given the complex multi‐factorial nature of migraine, combining treatments with different mechanisms of action should improve outcomes compared to monotherapies, but ...
