Assessing the Antibiotic Resistance in Food Lactic Acid Bacteria: Risks in the Era of Widespread Probiotic Use

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2025.
Targeting the potential sources and risk factors for antibiotic resistance transmittance and development of antibiotic resistant‐free probiotics. ABSTRACT Antibiotic resistance (AR) in lactic acid bacteria (LAB) has become an emerging concern in the probiotic and food industries. LAB, a key component of the human microbiota and widely used in probiotic

Characterization of Silver Nanoparticles Synthesized Using Hypericum perforatum L. and Their Effects on Staphylococcus aureus

open access: yesMicroscopy Research and Technique, Volume 88, Issue 8, Page 2321-2332, August 2025.
This study investigated the effects of biosynthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) derived from Hypericum perforatum on the cell morphology of Gram‐positive Staphylococcus aureus bacterial cells, with FE‐SEM analysis showing distinct morphological changes in AgNP‐treated S. aureus cells compared to the control group.

Post‐COVID‐19 condition: clinical phenotypes, pathophysiological mechanisms, pathology, and management strategies

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 266, Issue 4-5, Page 369-389, August 2025.
Abstract Post‐COVID‐19 condition (PCC), also known as long COVID, is a complex multiple organ system condition that can develop and persist for months after acute COVID‐19. PCC encompasses a wide range of symptoms, resulting in heterogeneous clinical manifestations. These manifestations likely arise from diverse underlying pathophysiological mechanisms,

Two cysteines control Tse1 secretion by H1‐T6SS in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract Type Six Secretion Systems (T6SS) are molecular machines that export toxic effector proteins into bacterial competitors or eukaryotic cells. Pseudomonas aeruginosa's H1‐T6SS secretes Tse1, which contains a disulfide bond between cysteines at positions 7 and 148, linking its N‐ and C‐terminal regions.

Barrier, Mechanical and Antimicrobial Properties of Yam Starch Film With Cássia Cinnamon Essential Oil and Its Application in Strawberry Storage

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, Volume 38, Issue 8, Page 681-697, August 2025.
Chitosan and cinnamon oil reduced film thickness and improved water vapor barrier properties. Cinnamon oil in yam starch films showed strong antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus. Yam starch films with chitosan and cinnamon oil effectively inhibited fungal growth on strawberries.
