Convergence in Symbiont‐Induced Plant‐Mediated Responses to Herbivory: Cascading Effects for Foraging Parasitoids

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 28, Issue 8, August 2025.
Polydnaviruses represent a striking example of convergent evolution. These viruses, divided into bracoviruses and ichnoviruses, were independently acquired by braconid and ichneumonid parasitoid wasps respectively, to deliver pathogenic genes to caterpillar hosts.

Characterization of the Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Biosynthesis Pathway and Regulatory Mechanisms in Streptococcus mutans

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 14, 31 July 2025.
This research elucidates NAD+ biosynthesis in Streptococcus mutans, revealing reliance on the nicotinic acid salvage pathway and an incomplete PnuC–NadR route. SmNiaR, a nicotinic acid‐responsive transcriptional regulator, orchestrates the transcriptional regulation of this pathway.
