Podoceridae of tropical Australia (Peracarida: Amphipoda)

open access: yesRecords of the Australian Museum, 2013
Thirteen taxa in the family Podoceridae are reported from tropical Australia, including six new species and four new records. Podocerus hanapepe J. L. Barnard, 1970, P. talegus lawai J. L. Barnard, 1970, P. walkeri Rabindranath, 1972 and P. zeylanicus (Walker, 1904) are reported from Australia for the first time.

First multigene phylogeny of Cumacea (crustacea: Peracarida)

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, 2022
AbstractCumaceans are small peracarid crustaceans that can be remarkably diverse and important benthic organisms. Despite their ubiquitous presence in soft sediments, no well‐resolved phylogeny currently exists, which impedes ecological and evolutionary studies of the group.

Brooding Phylogenomics: Target-Capture Probe Sets for the Analysis of Ultraconserved Elements in the Peracarida. [PDF]

open access: yesMol Ecol Resour
ABSTRACT Sequencing via target capture has been used to great effect in phylogenetic studies of organisms such as insects, arachnids and vertebrates. However, other taxa have received limited genomic attention despite their diversity and the intensity of research on such groups. Here, we describe generalised probe sets targeting ultraconserved elements

Redescription of three cirolanid isopods (Crustacea: Peracarida) from Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yesZootaxa, 2016
Three species of Cirolanidae described by Nierstrasz in 1931 are redescribed from the type material: Cirolana indica Nierstrasz, 1931, with new material from Singapore and Lombok Island, Indonesia; C. vanhoeffeni Nierstrasz, 1931; and C. stebbingi Nierstrasz, 1931, which is here transferred to the genus Politolana Bruce, 1981 based on the elongate body,

Genetic Structure of Eudorella emarginata (Peracarida: Cumacea): Effects of Topography and Historical Anoxic Events in the Sea of Japan. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
The population dynamics of cumacean species Eudorella emarginata in the seas around Japan were estimated based on molecular sequence data and past climatic changes. Our results suggest that the population in the Sea of Japan survived glacial anoxic events in the refugium near the Tsugaru strait. Our results emphasize the importance of local populations

A new morphological phylogeny of Malacostraca comparing the application of character dependencies and implied weighting. [PDF]

open access: yesCladistics
Abstract Using a new character matrix composed of revised matrices of previous analyses and new morphological findings, the phylogeny of Malacostraca (Pancrustacea) is analysed anew with 207 characters for 35 terminal taxa across all recognized orders. Particular emphasis was placed on methodological versatility, including different degrees of implied ...
