Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Perceived discrimination in medical settings and perceived quality of care: A population-based study in Chicago.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Perceived discrimination in medical settings remains prevalent within the U.S. health care system. However, the details of these experiences and their associations with perceived quality of care are not well understood.

Darker Skin Tone Increases Perceived Discrimination among Male but Not Female Caribbean Black Youth

open access: yesChildren, 2017
Background: Among most minority groups, males seem to report higher levels of exposure and vulnerability to racial discrimination. Although darker skin tone may increase exposure to racial discrimination, it is yet unknown whether skin tone similarly ...

Pharmacological effects of osimertinib on a chicken chorioallantoic membrane xenograft model with the EGFR exon‐19‐deleted advanced NSCLC mutation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Osimertinib reduces angiogenesis and PDL1 expression in in ovo tumors, transforming them into ‘cold tumors’ with lower immune activity. Anatomopathological and transcriptomic analyses highlight its therapeutic impact on tumor biology. This study underscores osimertinib's potential to reshape the tumor microenvironment and provides insights into its ...

Subjective Socioeconomic Status Moderates the Association between Discrimination and Depression in African American Youth

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2018
Background: Most of the literature on the association between socioeconomic status (SES) and health is focused on the protective effects of SES. However, a growing literature suggests that high SES may also operate as a vulnerability factor.

Effects of simultaneous multislice acceleration on the stability of radiomics features in parametric maps of IVIM and DKI in uterine cervical cancer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of the simultaneous multislice acceleration (SMS) technique as well as two‐dimensional (2D) and three‐dimensional (3D) tumor segmentations on radiomics features (RFs) within the parametric maps of cervical cancer, which were computed by intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) and ...

Breakthrough Solution for Antimicrobial Resistance Detection: Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy‐based on Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView., 2023
This review discusses the use of Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for detecting antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Various SERS studies used with AI techniques, including machine learning and deep learning, are analyzed for their advantages and limitations.

Combinatorial on/off Model for Olfactory Coding [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
We present a model for olfactory coding based on spatial representation of glomerular responses. In this model distinct odorants activate specific subsets of glomeruli, dependent upon the odorant's chemical identity and concentration. The glomerular response specificities are understood statistically, based on experimentally measured distributions of ...
