Unconscious orientation processing depends on perceptual load
The effects of perceptual load on the level of adaptation to task-irrelevant and invisible oriented gratings were examined. Participants performed a task at fixation under conditions of low (detecting color targets) or high (detecting conjunctions of color and shape) perceptual load.

Accurate expectancies diminish perceptual distraction during visual search
The load theory of visual attention proposes that efficient selective perceptual processing of task-relevant information during search is determined automatically by the perceptual demands of the display.

Perceptual suppression of distractors may depend on both endogenous and exogenous factors, such as attentional load of the current task and sensory competition among simultaneous stimuli, respectively. We used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)

Perceptual load modulates conscious flicker perception
Subjective visual experience depends not only on the spatial arrangement of the environment, but also on the temporal pattern of stimulation. For example, flickering and steady light presented in the same location evoke a very different perceptual experience due to their different temporal patterns.

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

A series of experiments assessed the interference effect from stimuli that are entirely unrelated to the current task, comparing the effect of perceptual load on task-irrelevant distractors can interfere with task performance to the same extent as a ...

ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...

Effect of stimulus dimension on perception and cognition
Stimuli characteristics ha a decisive role in our perception and cognition. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the effects of dimension of stimuli, two-dimensional (2D) versus three-dimensional (3D), on perception and working memory. In the first

Visual Discrimination Accuracy across Reaction Time in Rats [PDF]
Processing time, computational load, and stimulus strength interact in perceptual decisions. Studies with non-human primates and rodents have demonstrated that perceptual decisions are guided by stimulus processing as well as cognitive factors, such as ...

Vestibular Patient Journey: Insights From Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) Registry
ABSTRACT Objective Vestibular symptoms impose a high burden of disability. Understanding real‐world diagnostic and treatment pathways can identify care gaps and guide interventions. We aimed to characterize symptom profiles, diagnostic trends, provider involvement, and treatment patterns in vestibular disorders.
