Investigating neurophysiological correlates of metacontrast masking with magnetoencephalography

open access: yesAdvances in Cognitive Psychology, 2006
Early components of visual evoked potentials (VEP) in EEG seem to be unaffected by target visibility in visual masking studies. Bridgeman's reanalysis of Jeffreys and Musselwhite's (1986) data suggests that a later visual component in the VEP, around 250

Departure from the onset-onset rule [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Using a signal-detection task, the generality of Turvey's (1973) onset-onset rule was tested in four experiments. After seeing, in succession, (1) one or two letters (target display), (2) a multiletter detection display, and (3) a mask display, subjects ...

Neural Circuits between Nodose Ganglion and Pulmonary Neuroendocrine Cells Regulate Lung Inflammatory Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TRPA1+αCGRP+ sensory neurons in the nodose ganglion detect external insults such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and interact directly with pulmonary neuroendocrine cells (PNECs), promoting their activation and proliferation. This neural‐epithelial interaction amplifies lung inflammation.

Neuronal Correlates of Informational and Energetic Masking in the Human Brain in a Multi-Talker Situation

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2019
Human listeners can follow the voice of one speaker while several others are talking at the same time. This process requires segregating the speech streams from each other and continuously directing attention to the target stream.

Correlative Imaging Platform Linking Taste Cell Function to Molecular Identity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A correlative imaging platform is developed to study how individual taste cells respond to different taste qualities. By linking cellular activity with molecular identity and environmental context, dual‐tuned taste cells capable of detecting both sweet and umami stimuli are identified.

A Virtual Clinical Trial of Psychedelics to Treat Patients With Disorders of Consciousness

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Disorders of consciousness after severe brain injury are marked by reduced complexity of brain activity and limited treatment options. Using personalized whole‐brain models, this study shows that simulated lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and psilocybin shift patient brain dynamics closer to criticality.

Convergent and Divergent Connectivity Patterns of the Arcuate Fasciculus in Macaques and Humans

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs viral‐based single‐neuron tracing and dMRI‐based whole‐brain tractography to investigate arcuate fasciculus (AF) trajectories in macaque monkeys, and compares with the human AF connectome using spectral embedding. Results demonstrate conserved AF topography spanning temporoparietal‐auditory‐frontal pathways across primates, with ...

Broadband All‐Optical Memtransistor Based on Organic Cocrystals for Noise‐Robust Motion Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents an all‐optical synaptic transistor using DTT‐TCNQ organic charge transfer cocrystals, achieving broadband bidirectional modulation (395–808 nm) with highly linear synaptic plasticity (nonlinearity coefficients αp = 0.00191, αd = 0.00305).
