Fragmentation of percolation clusters at the percolation threshold
A scaling theory and simulation results are presented for fragmentation of percolation clusters by random bond dilution. At the percolation threshold, scaling forms describe the average number of fragmenting bonds and the distribution of cluster masses produced by fragmentation.

We demonstrate that kinetic aggregation forms superaggregates that have structures identical to static percolation aggregates, and these superaggregates appear as a separate phase in the size distribution. Diffusion limited cluster-cluster aggregation (DLCA) simulations were performed to yield fractal aggregates with a fractal dimension of 1.8 and ...

On percolation and ‐hardness [PDF]
AbstractThe edge‐percolation and vertex‐percolation random graph models start with an arbitrary graphG, and randomly delete edges or vertices ofGwith some fixed probability. We study the computational complexity of problems whose inputs are obtained by applying percolation to worst‐case instances.

Network robustness has been a pivotal issue in the study of system failure in network science since its inception. To shed light on this subject, we introduce and study a new percolation process based on a new cluster called an 'exclave' cluster. The entities comprising exclave clusters in a network are the sets of connected unfailed nodes that are ...

Percolation theory was initiated some fifty years ago as a mathematical framework for the study of random physical processes such as flow through a disordered porous medium. It has proved to be a remarkably rich theory, with applications beyond natural phenomena to topics such as network modelling.

Percolation-Based Metal–Insulator Transition in Black Phosphorus Field Effect Transistors
The existence of a novel phenomenon, such as the metal–insulator transition (MIT) in two-dimensional (2D) systems, affords emerging functional properties that provide new aspects for future electronics and optoelectronics. Here, we report the observation
