Rice productivity and stability in a long-term rotations experiment in temperate South America. [abstract].

open access: yes
In Uruguay, flooded rice historically rotated with perennial pastures (mix of grasses and legumes) for livestock production. Business as usual consisted basically in two years of rice crops followed by two-four years of grazed pastures.

The Fate of Western Headwaters: Climate Controls on Base‐Flow Decline

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Headwater streams comprise nearly 88% of the western U.S. river network and supply most of the region's surface water, making them especially sensitive to warming, snowpack loss, and drought. As surface‐water inputs decline, groundwater increasingly sustains streamflow, elevating the need to understand long‐term trends in base flow and their ...

Rising Tides, Falling Harvests: Examining the Effects of Salinity Intrusion on Paddy Production in Vietnam's Mekong Delta

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Economics, Volume 77, Issue 2, Page 771-785, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Rising sea levels and salinity intrusion increasingly threaten rice farming in Vietnam's Mekong Delta. Using a district‐level panel dataset from 2000 to 2020, this study examines the impacts of salinity on Winter–Spring rice yields and acreage and how farmers adapt to salinity risk.

Determining Applications of Intermediate Wheatgrass in Conjunction With Common Wheat: Assessing Affects on Functionality and Digestibility

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Fortifying traditional wheat‐based products can diversify bakery applications and enhance the use of complementary grains in the food industry. Unlike common wheat, intermediate wheatgrass (IWG) is a perennial grain that is reported to have higher protein, fiber, and ash content. To maximize the use of IWG in bakery applications, this research

207-4. Rice rotations affect soil organic carbon sequestration and rice yield in a temperate region of South America. [Abstract]

open access: yes
Soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration is key in mitigating climate change. Rice systems rotated with perennial pastures are being intensified in South America to increase annual grain productivity, but the effects on SOC and rice yield remain poorly ...

The Transcription Factors HbWRKY29 and HbPTI5 cooperatively enhance rubber tree resistance to powdery mildew

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 6, June 2026.
Upon Erysiphe quercicola infection, rubber HbWRKY29 is rapidly induced and physically interacts with HbPTI5 to trigger HR. HbWRKY29 binds the HbPTI5 promoter (W‐box), enhancing HbPTI5 expression, which activates HbTLP1 expression, leading to reinforced defence.
