On lacunary polynomial perfect powers

Proceedings of the twenty-first international symposium on Symbolic and algebraic computation, 2008
We consider the problem of determining whether a t-sparse or lacunary polynomial f is a perfect power, that is, f=hr for some other polynomial h and positive integer r, and of finding h and r should they exist. We show how to determine if f is a perfect power in time polynomial in the size of the lacunary representation.

PERFECT POWERS WITH THREE DIGITS

Mathematika, 2013
Summary: We solve the equation \(x^a + x^b + 1= y^q \) in positive integers \(x, y, a, b\) and \(q\) with \(a> b\) and \(q\geq 2\) coprime to \(\varphi (x)\). This requires a combination of a variety of techniques from effective Diophantine approximation, including lower bounds for linear forms in complex and \(p\)-adic logarithms, the hypergeometric ...

“By the Power of the Perfection of Wisdom”

Journal of the American Oriental Society, 2021
This paper focuses on the ritual context of the 200,000-line Chinese Great Perfection of Wisdom (Dabore jing; *Mahāprajñāpāramitā-sūtra) at Dunhuang. Beside the fact that the purpose of the mass production of sūtras was to generate merit and then present a “merit gift” for the sponsor, the copies were reused as ritual instruments in the ...

Perfection and power

International Journal for Philosophy of Religion, 1986
The traditional theistic conception of God, captured well by St. Anselm, is that of a greatest possible or maximally perfect being. God is thought of as necessarily exemplifying a maximally compossible collection of greatmaking properties, properties that, roughly, it is intrinsically better to have than to lack.

Enhanced power graphs are weakly perfect

Australas. J Comb., 2023
Summary: A graph is weakly perfect if its clique number and chromatic number are equal. We show that the enhanced power graph of a finite group \(G\) is weakly perfect: its clique number and chromatic number are equal to the maximum order of an element of \(G\). The proof requires a combinatorial lemma. We give some remarks about related graphs.

Striving for Power Perfection

IEEE Power and Energy Magazine, 2008
Entrepreneurial prototypes of the Galvin perfect power microgrid system architecture are being initiated in a variety of commercial settings that focus both on implementing specific perfect power business opportunities and on pursuing the various technical innovation breakthroughs identified in the course of the Galvin electricity initiative. A variety

PERFECT POWERS THAT ARE SUMS OF TWO POWERS OF FIBONACCI NUMBERS

Bulletin of the Australian Mathematical Society, 2018
In this paper, we consider the Diophantine equations$$\begin{eqnarray}\displaystyle F_{n}^{q}\pm F_{m}^{q}=y^{p} & & \displaystyle \nonumber\end{eqnarray}$$with positive integers$q,p\geq 2$and$\gcd (F_{n},F_{m})=1$, where$F_{k}$is a Fibonacci number.
