Striving for Power Perfection

IEEE Power and Energy Magazine, 2008
Entrepreneurial prototypes of the Galvin perfect power microgrid system architecture are being initiated in a variety of commercial settings that focus both on implementing specific perfect power business opportunities and on pursuing the various technical innovation breakthroughs identified in the course of the Galvin electricity initiative. A variety

PERFECT POWERS THAT ARE SUMS OF TWO POWERS OF FIBONACCI NUMBERS

Bulletin of the Australian Mathematical Society, 2018
In this paper, we consider the Diophantine equations$$\begin{eqnarray}\displaystyle F_{n}^{q}\pm F_{m}^{q}=y^{p} & & \displaystyle \nonumber\end{eqnarray}$$with positive integers$q,p\geq 2$and$\gcd (F_{n},F_{m})=1$, where$F_{k}$is a Fibonacci number.

A Perfect Power demonstration system

2010 Innovative Smart Grid Technologies (ISGT), 2010
Energy efficiency, power system reliability and the environmental impact of fossil fuel plants are all drivers for more intelligent or smart grids. We discuss a Perfect Power System, a smart micro grid with system redundancy, and implement a test bed to demonstrate smart grid concepts such as demand response, onsite generation, automated lighting ...

Perfect Competition, Market Power, and Contestability

The model of perfect competition is one of the most famous, most important, and most misunderstood concepts in economics. Rather than aiming to be a full-blown model of real-world competitive markets, the perfect competition model isolates the decentralized coordination mechanism inherent in all competitive markets.

In Search of a Perfect Power Engineering Program

IEEE Transactions on Education, 2004
Following a prolonged decline in enrollment and interest in power engineering, educators have formulated a variety of responses they believe will stem the tide of woes that seem to have besieged the profession. The range of creative solutions proposed in many programs are centered around what a power engineering curriculum should contain, how course ...

Primes and perfect powers in the Catalan triangle

J. Integer Seq., 2019
The Catalan triangle is a number triangle with entries \(C_{n,k}=\frac{n-k+1}{n+1}\binom{n+k}{k}\) for all \(n\geq k\geq 0\). In particular, the diagonal entries \(C_{n,n}\) is the \(n\)-th Catalan number, while the first column \(C_{n,1}=n\). The authors prove that for \(k\geq 2\), the only prime power entries are \(C_{2,2}=2\), \(C_{3,2}=C_{3,3}=5\),
