Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry Analysis of Perfluorooctane Sulfonate and Perfluorooctanoic Acid in Fish Fillet Samples

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Methods in Chemistry, 2012
Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic (PFOA) acid are persistent contaminants which can be found in environmental and biological samples.

Perfluorinated compounds: occurrence of emerging food contaminants in canned fish and seafood products

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2010
The contamination levels of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctane sulfonamide (FOSA), which represent an important subgroup of the environmental contaminants known as perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), were ...

Tissue distribution of sodium p-perfluorous nonenoxybenzene sulfonate (OBS) in mice via oral exposure

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2022
Environmental risks caused by emerging per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) have attracted increasing attention. As an important substitute for perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), sodium p-perfluorous nonenoxybenzene sulfonate (OBS) is widely used ...

Perinatal exposure to perfluorooctane sulfonate affects glucose metabolism in adult offspring. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) are globally present in the environment and are widely distributed in human populations and wildlife. The chemicals are ubiquitous in human body fluids and have a long serum elimination half-life.

Isomer-specific binding affinity of perfluoroalkyl substances with red blood cells

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
s: Wide presence of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in human blood has attracted great attention. Interactions of PFASs with serum proteins have been well investigated, but with red blood cells (RBCs), a nonnegligible cellular constituent of blood ...

Prenatal exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances and maternal and neonatal thyroid function in the Project Viva Cohort: A mixtures approach

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2020
Background: Maternal and neonatal thyroid function is critical for growth and neurodevelopment. Exposure to individual per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) can alter circulating thyroid hormone levels, but few studies have investigated effects of ...

Neonatal death of mice treated with perfluorooctane sulfonate

open access: yesThe Journal of Toxicological Sciences, 2008
Pregnant mice exposure to perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) causes neonatal death. Ten pregnant ICR mice per group were given 1, 10 or 20 mg/kg PFOS daily by gavage from gestational day (GD) 0 to the end of the study. Five dams per group were sacrificed on GD 18 for prenatal evaluation, the others were left to give birth.

Efficient Removal of Short‐Chain Perfluoroalkyl Substances by Cavity‐Directed Aggregation in a Molecular Cage Host

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 12, 16 March 2026.
A molecular cage exhibits strong entropy‐driven encapsulation of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), accommodating up to four short‐chain guests as anionic aggregates. Guided by these molecular‐level insights, a novel host‐in‐host adsorbent is developed: mesoporous silica doped with 1 wt% cage achieves >98% removal of short‐ and long‐chain PFAS with full

Incidence of ocular conditions associated with perfluoroalkyl substances exposure: Isomers of C8 Health Project in China

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2020
The detrimental effects of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) on several physiological systems have been reported, but the association of PFASs with eye, one of the most sensitive and exposed organ, has never been explored.

Release of perfluoroalkyl substances from AFFF-impacted concrete in a firefighting training ground (FTG) under repeated rainfall simulations

open access: yesJournal of Hazardous Materials Letters, 2022
Historical use of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at firefighting training grounds (FTGs) has prompted questions regarding possible PFAS retention within concrete and subsequent releases to the environment.
