Patched Green's function techniques for two dimensional systems: Electronic behaviour of bubbles and perforations in graphene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present a numerically efficient technique to evaluate the Green's function for extended two dimensional systems without relying on periodic boundary conditions.

A Functional 2D Carbon Allotrope Combining Nanoporous Graphene and Biphenylene Segments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis of a novel nanoporous graphene (NPG) is reported with biphenylene segments via thermal fusion of 12‐armchair porous graphene nanoribbons grown on gold surfaces. Characterization using STM, AFM, and DFT reveals low‐defect semiconducting behaviour and tunable band gaps.

Effect of repairing and medication on treatment of perforation of peptic ulcer

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Bābul, 2004
Background and Objective: Perforation of peptic ulcer is a common complication that its treatment needs several surgical methods (Repairing, vagotomy and anterectomy).

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Impact perforation testing of stab-resistant armour materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
This paper describes the development of a method for the investigation and comparison of materials for use in stab resistant body armour. A number of polymer composite panels of different thicknesses and construction have been tested.

Typhoid perforation

open access: yesJournal of British Surgery, 1989
Abstract Typhoid perforation of the bowel carries a high risk of mortality and is a common surgical problem in many developing countries. This review examines the pathogenesis, and discusses diagnosis and management.

Definition of perforator flap: what does a "perforator" perforate?

open access: yesGlobal Health & Medicine, 2019
Perforator flap concept plays an important role in reconstructive surgery, because it allows less invasive and more complex reconstruction by preserving major vessels and muscles with intramuscular vessel dissection. Originally "perforator" represents vessel perforating the muscle, then vessel perforating the deep fascia regardless of muscle ...

Soft Ionic and Electronic Triboelectric Nanogenerators: Toward Attachable and Implantable Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides an overview of triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG)–based biomedical applications by classifying studies into electronic and ionic systems across attachable and implantable platforms. It summarizes key material choices, device structures, and working mechanisms that characterize current TENG‐based research, and outlines six future ...

Perforated ileal phytobezoar revealed a MALT lymphoma

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2016
A 45-year-old woman was under study for one year of abdominal pain associated with 4kg weight loss and chronic constipation. An entero magnetic resonance found a mass of 8x10cm on medium ileum suggesting a phytobezoar, with no proximal bowel dilatation ...

Near Wellbore Hydraulic Fracture Propagation from Perforations in Tight Rocks: The Roles of Fracturing Fluid Viscosity and Injection Rate

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
Hydraulic fracture initiation and near wellbore propagation is governed by complex failure mechanisms, especially in cased perforated wellbores. Various parameters affect such mechanisms, including fracturing fluid viscosity and injection rate.
