Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

MERGE: Mammogram-Enhanced Representation via Wavelet-Guided CNNs for Computer-Aided Diagnosis of Breast Cancer

open access: yesMachine Learning and Knowledge Extraction
The early and accurate identification of breast cancer is a significant healthcare issue, largely because the traditional machine learning approaches rely on handcrafted features that are unable to fully capture the spatial and textural complexity found ...

Von Krahli Teatri „Luikede järv“ kui mälumasin: esteetiline absoluut ja sotsiaalne kontekst / Von Krahl Theatre’s “Swan Lake” as a Memory Machine: Aesthetic Absolute and Social Context

open access: yesMethis: Studia Humaniora Estonica, 2014
This paper analyses the interrelation between video projections and stage action and the meanings created via these relations in Von Krahl Theatre’s production of „Swan Lake“ (2003, directors Peeter Jalakas and Alexander Pepelyayev).

Machine learning model for aircraft performances

open access: yes2014 IEEE/AIAA 33rd Digital Avionics Systems Conference (DASC), 2014
• We have shown an alternative approach to static aircraft performances tables • A simple machine learning algorithm shows good results • Aircraft type average is almost as good as machine learning • We expect to find more efficient machine learning algorithm • A good candidate for a centralized service of providing aircraft performances in ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

RHETORIC OF DIGITAL SUBJECTIVITY: NEO, SHREK, AND THE EVOLUTION OF AGENCY IN THE AGE OF ALGORITHMS

open access: yesВісник Харківського національного університету імені В.Н. Каразіна. Серия: Теорія культури та філософіі науки
The article examines the ontological transformations of rhetorical subjectivation under conditions of digital mediation. Through hermeneutic analysis of the archetypal figures of Neo («The Matrix») and Shrek (the eponymous animated narrative), the study ...

Virtual High Performance Machining

open access: yesProcedia CIRP, 2016
AbstractThe goal of current research is to develop digital models of all steps in the manufacturing of parts. This paper presents an overview of digital machining of parts in virtual environment. It is based on research and development of digital models in machining parts. The tool – part intersection along the tool path is evaluated at discrete steps,

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Comparison of injection molding machine performance

open access: yesPolymer Engineering & Science, 2005
AbstractA comprehensive study into the performance of 4 injection molding machines is reported, using identical mold, polymer, and processing conditions. Start‐up dynamics and process repeatability were directly compared across machine technologies. One servohydraulic, one proportional hydraulic and two servoelectric machines were used in the study ...
