Engineering Neuronal Network Connectivity Through Precise and Scalable Electrical Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a scalable all‐electrical method for precise neuronal‐circuit reconfiguration based on high‐density microelectrode arrays. By employing biologically inspired plasticity rules, targeted connectivity changes were successfully induced and quantified across diverse neuronal preparations.

The biological properties of OGI surfaces positively act on osteogenic and angiogenic commitment of mesenchymal stem cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Osteogenesis process displays a fundamental role during dental implant osteointegration. In the present work, we studied the influence of Osteon Growth Induction (OGI) surface properties on the angiogenic and osteogenic behaviors of ...

Peri‐Implant Diseases: Enhanced Antibacterial Photodynamic Therapy

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research
ABSTRACTObjectivesThe number of dental implants is constantly on the rise, and inflammation of their surrounding tissues is an increasing problem. In this randomized controlled trial, we investigated the effects of antibacterial dual‐light photodynamic therapy (aPDT) in peri‐implant disease in reduction of inflammation in the peri‐implant tissues ...

Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery in the Era of Robotics: Evolution, Eclipse, or Equilibrium?

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Minimally invasive colorectal surgery has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past three decades. Laparoscopy, once viewed with skepticism, is now firmly established as a standard approach, supported by robust randomized trials demonstrating oncologic safety and improved recovery compared to open surgery.

Diagnosis and management of peri‐implant diseases [PDF]

open access: yesAustralian Dental Journal, 2008
AbstractPeri‐implant diseases are inflammatory lesions which may affect the peri‐implant mucosa only (peri‐implant mucositis) or also result in loss of supporting bone (peri‐implantitis). Peri‐implantitis may lead to loss of the implant. Diagnosis of peri‐implant disease requires the use of conventional probing to identify the presence of bleeding on ...

Long‐Term Follow Up of Two Patients With Variants in the Cluster 1031‐1159 of TRRAP Gene: Expanding the Phenotype of Developmental Delay With or Without Dysmorphic Facies and Autism

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The transformation/transcription domain‐associated protein (TRRAP) gene encodes a large multidomain protein, a member of the phosphatidylinositol 3‐kinase‐related kinase (PIKK) family. TRRAP is a component of the histone acetyltransferase (HAT) complex, and it plays an important role in gene transcription, DNA repair, and cell‐cycle regulation.

Clinical and microbiologic investigation of an expedited peri-implantitis dog model: an animal study

open access: yesBMC Oral Health, 2019
Background Animal studies are pivotal in allowing experimentation to identify efficacious treatment protocols for resolution of peri-implantitis. The purpose of this investigation was to characterize an expedited dog peri-implantitis model clinically ...

Temperature‐Controlled Radiofrequency for Severe Nasal Airway Obstruction: A Non‐Inferiority Comparison With Surgical Intervention

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Temperature‐controlled radiofrequency (TCRF), septoplasty (ST) with turbinate reduction, and functional rhinoplasty (FR) are treatment options for nasal airway obstruction (NAO) and nasal valve dysfunction (NVD), but no direct comparison of these procedures has been performed. Methods This prospective, open‐label, non‐inferiority (

The dental management of patients at risk of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw: New paradigm of primary prevention [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is a serious adverse reaction of antiresorptive and antiangiogenic agents; it is a potentially painful and debilitating condition that can considerably affect the quality of life of patients ...

Small vesicles, big potential: A review of innovative exosome delivery and molecular mechanisms in preclinical myocardial infarction models

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This narrative review discusses animal models of exosome‐based myocardial infarction treatments. Emerging techniques aim to improve exosome stability, targeting, and bioavailability for MI treatment as drug delivery vehicles and regenerative mediators that promote myocardial regeneration. Abstract Exosomes have emerged as promising therapeutic carriers,
