Ultrasound Activated Piezoelectric Dural Patches to Drive Endogenous Neural Stem Cell–Mediated Repair Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a wireless, non‐invasive strategy for neural repair by developing a biodegradable piezoelectric dural patch that, under transcranial ultrasound, generates localized electrical fields to drive endogenous neural stem cells toward neuronal differentiation and functional integration.

Peri-implant diseases triggered by oral microdysbiosis: pathogenesis and precision intervention strategies

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Peri-implant disease is a chronic infection-induced inflammation condition affecting tissues around dental implants, categorized into peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis. Oral microbial dysbiosis plays an important role in this disease. Currently,

Bisphosphonate-induced periprosthetic fracture: a cause of painful total hip arthroplasty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background. Cases have been reported in the literature of periprosthetic fractures associated with the use of bisphosphonates occurring in the long term following a Total Hip Replacement (THR).

Neuromodulator Dynamics Underlying Associative Learning in the Ventral Striatum's Olfactory Tubercle

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using fiber photometry and genetically encoded sensors, the dynamic release patterns of four neuromodulators in the olfactory tubercle (OT)—a brain region overlapping with the olfactory cortex and ventral striatum—were systematically monitored in response to external rewards and distinct reward‐associated learning processes.

Thickness of the buccal bone wall and root angulation in the maxilla and mandible: an approach to cone beam computed tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: The objective of this paper is to anatomically describe the bone morphology in the maxillary and mandibular tooth areas, which might help in planning post-extraction implants.

Interface Wettability Transition‐Driven Drug Release and Dual‐Phase Functionalization in Implant Abutment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A temporally controlled drug release coating is developed for abutments using a superhydrophobic coating self‐assembled on mesoporous silica. This surface provides sequential functionality: initial contamination resistance through non‐wetting, followed by controlled drug release via wettability transition.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF MICROORGANISMS AROUND TEETH AND IMPLANTS IN HEALTH AND DISEASE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of IMAB
Aim: Dental implants are a reliable solution for replacing missing teeth and restoring oral health. Despite their high survival rates, complications such as peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis remain common challenges.

Etiologia da peri-implantite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A doença peri-implantar é um processo inflamatório nos tecidos à volta do(s) implante(s), que se pode dividir em duas fases. Inicia-se, sempre, por uma mucosite peri-implantar, que se não for tratada, pode evoluir para peri-implantite. Neste trabalho,

Deep Learning for the Radiographic Detection of periodontal Bone Loss [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We applied deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to detect periodontal bone loss (PBL) on panoramic dental radiographs. We synthesized a set of 2001 image segments from panoramic radiographs. Our reference test was the measured % of PBL.
