Left atrial intramural hematoma following right atrial catheter ablation: A rare case involving coronary sinus injury

Left atrial intramural hematoma (LAIH) is an exceedingly rare complication that occurs following catheter ablation in the right atrium. The present case is the first to implicate coronary sinus catheter manipulation—rather than left atrial intervention—as a potential mechanism of LAIH.

Summary A 25‐year‐old Irish sport horse was presented for investigation of a 7‐day history of apathy and lethargy. Clinical examination revealed tachycardia, tachypnoea, distended, pulsating jugular veins and ventral oedema. Serum biochemistry showed azotaemia.
