Plasticity of Olivine in Peridotites
1976Prior to about 20 years ago peridotites were almost universally considered to have crystallized from an ultramafic magma to essentially their present microstructure. This mistaken impression persists today in that virtually all textbooks continue to classify these rocks as igneous.
