Stock volatility in the periods of booms and stagnations [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to compare statistical properties of stock price indices in periods of booms with those in periods of stagnations. We use the daily data of the four stock price indices in the major stock markets in the world: (i) the Nikkei 225 index (Nikkei 225) from January 4, 1975 to August 18, 2004, of (ii) the Dow Jones Industrial Average

Major negative oxygen isotopic anomalies in planktonic foraminifera are associated with deep-sea anoxic mud layers (sapropels) deposited 9000 and 80,000 years ago in the eastern Mediterranean. The isotopic depletion in surface-dwelling foraminifera is significantly greater than in mesopelagic foraminifera.

Periodic solutions to a convective droplet burning problem: The stagnation point
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1965A theoretical study is performed of the droplet-burning process in a forced convection field when a small-amplitude sound wave is introduced into the free stream. Since an exact solution may be found for arbitrary frequency near the forward stagnation point, this region is given primary treatment.

Periodic boundary layer near a two-dimensional stagnation point
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1970The time-mean characteristics of the laminar boundary layer near a two-dimensional stagnation point, when the velocity of the oncoming flow relative to the body oscillates are investigated analytically. First, when the amplitude of the oscillating velocity is small compared with the oncoming flow velocity, a series expansion is made and the obtained ...
