Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Periodic acid-Schiff staining of kidney tissues in each group.

open access: yes, 2016
The kidney tissues were stained with Periodic acid-Schiff. Cells with a positive reaction were stained purple (magnification, ×400). In picture B, fuchsia positive cells were more than that of the other two groups.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Periodicity of joint co-tiles in $\mathbb{Z}^d$

open access: yesDiscrete Analysis
Periodicity of joint co-tiles in $\mathbb{Z}^d$, Discrete Analysis 2024:13, 32 pp. A finite subset, or *tile*, $F$ of an abelian group $G$ is said to *tile $G$ by translations* if there there is some complementary set, or *co-tile*, $A$ of $G$ such that

Periodic mild heat stimuli diminish extracellular matrix synthesis in pellet cultured human chondrocytes

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2019
Objective This study aimed to clarify the effects of periodic mild heat stimuli on extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis of adult human chondrocytes in 3-dimensional pellet culture.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Coupled-Resonator Optical Waveguides and Multiplexed Solitons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Whether over micron-long or kilometer-long distances, periodic phenomena can strongly affect both the propagation and the confinement of optical pulses.

The Lattice of Periods of a Group Action

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematics, 1995
Let \(G\) be a finite group and \(S\) a finite set. An action of \(G\) on \(S\) yields a partition of \(S\) given by the orbits of the action. By restricting the action to subgroups, one obtains an order-preserving map from the lattice of subgroups of \(G\) to the lattice of partitions of \(S\). The image of this map is called the lattice of periods of
