Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Periodic Modules and Quantum Groups [PDF]

open access: yesTransformation Groups, 2004
We prove that the elements $A_\leq$ defined by Lusztig in a completion of the periodic module actually live in the periodic module, in the type A case. In order to prove this, we compare, using Schur duality, these elements with the Kashiwara canonical basis of an integrable module.

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

About Periodic Shunkov Group Saturated with Finite Simple Groups of Lie Type Rank 1

open access: yesИзвестия Иркутского государственного университета: Серия "Математика", 2016
The property of group G to be saturated with given set of groups X is a natural generalization of locally-cover definition (in class of locally finite groups) on periodic groups. Locally-finite group, witch has a locally-cover contains from finite simple

"Risk homeostasis"or "teachable moment"? the interaction between smoking behavior and lung cancer screening in the Mayo Lung Project

open access: yesTobacco Induced Diseases, 2011
The chest X-ray lung cancer screening program of Mayo Lung Project (MLP) yielded mixed results of improved lung case survival but no improvement in lung cancer mortality.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

The Effect of a Periodic and Complementary Resveratrol Supplementation Effect on Bax and Bcl-2 Indicators in Female Rats

open access: yesArmaghane Danesh Bimonthly Journal, 2020
Background & aim: Alternative training is a way to improve athletic performance. Oxidative stress caused by periodic exercise programs and pressure on the immune system may cause apoptosis and changes in Bax and Bcl-2 characteristics.

A matched space for time scales and applications to the study on functions

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2017
In this paper, using the algebraic structure of the Abelian group, we introduce the concept of a matched space for time scales, and we construct the algebraic structure of matched spaces to solve the closedness of time scales under non-translational ...
