Partner orbits and action differences on compact factors of the hyperbolic plane. Part I: Sieber-Richter pairs

open access: yes, 2015
Physicists have argued that periodic orbit bunching leads to universal spectral fluctuations for chaotic quantum systems. To establish a more detailed mathematical understanding of this fact, it is first necessary to look more closely at the classical ...

Bursts in the Chaotic Trajectory Lifetimes Preceding the Controlled Periodic Motion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The average lifetime ($\tau(H)$) it takes for a randomly started trajectory to land in a small region ($H$) on a chaotic attractor is studied. $\tau(H)$ is an important issue for controlling chaos.

Prevalence and Trajectory of Household Material Hardship Among Children With Advanced Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Families of children with advanced cancer living in poverty experience inferior outcomes including poor parent mental health and worse child quality of life. Household material hardship (HMH: food, housing, transportation, and/or utility insecurity) is a modifiable poverty exposure—and potential intervention target—that ...

Semiclassical Quantization by Pade Approximant to Periodic Orbit Sums

open access: yes, 1999
Periodic orbit quantization requires an analytic continuation of non-convergent semiclassical trace formulae. We propose a method for semiclassical quantization based upon the Pade approximant to the periodic orbit sums.

Efficacy and Safety Analysis of Roxarestat in Regulating Renal Anemia in Patients on Maintenance Hemodialysis

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of roxarestat versus recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) in the management of renal anemia in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. Methods This was a prospective, open‐label, randomized controlled trial.

Comparing periodic-orbit theory to perturbation theory in the asymmetric infinite square well

open access: yes, 2009
An infinite square well with a discontinuous step is one of the simplest systems to exhibit non-Newtonian ray-splitting periodic orbits in the semiclassical limit.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

On the noise-induced passage through an unstable periodic orbit II: General case

open access: yes, 2013
Consider a dynamical system given by a planar differential equation, which exhibits an unstable periodic orbit surrounding a stable periodic orbit. It is known that under random perturbations, the distribution of locations where the system's first exit ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Bifurcation of Nongeneric Homoclinic Orbit Accompanied by Pitchfork Bifurcation

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
The bifurcation of a nongeneric homoclinic orbit (i.e., the orbit comes from the equilibrium along the unstable manifold instead of the center manifold) connecting a nonhyperbolic equilibrium is investigated, and the nonhyperbolic equilibrium undergoes ...
