Periodic Law Patterns of Sequence Stratigraphy

open access: yesEarth Science Informatics, 2023
AbstractBased on the current theory of sequence stratigraphy, this study employs stillstand normal regression (SNR) to replace the method of highstand normal regression (HNR) to establish shoreline trajectory and sediment supply models of off-lap and onlap-type sequences, respectively.

A numerically reliable approach for the synthesis of periodic FDI filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We propose an integrated numerically reliable computational approach to solve fault detection and isolation (FDI) problems for periodic systems. For this purpose, a bank of periodic fault detection filters providing a structured residual set is designed

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Robust and minimum norm pole assignment with periodic state feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
A computational approach is proposed to solve the minimum norm and/or robust pole assignment problem for linear periodic discrete-time systems. The proposed approach uses a periodic Sylvester equation based parametrization of the periodic pole ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Rational periodic sequences for the Lynessrecurrence

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems, 2012
Consider the celebrated Lyness recurrence $x_{n+2}=(a+x_{n+1})/x_{n}$ with $a\in\Q$. First we prove that there exist initial conditions and values of $a$ for which it generates periodic sequences of rational numbers with prime periods $1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9,10$ or $12$ and that these are the only periods that rational sequences $\{x_n\}_n$ can have.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Periodicity of the Positive Solutions of a Fuzzy Max-Difference Equation

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
We investigate the periodic nature of the positive solutions of the fuzzy max-difference equation xn+1=maxAn/xn-m,xn-k,n=0,1,…, where k,m∈{1,2,…}, An is a periodic sequence of fuzzy numbers, and x-d,x-d+1,…,x0 are positive fuzzy numbers with d=m,k.

Robust and Minimum Norm Pole Assignment with Periodic State Feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A computational approach is proposed to solve the minimum norm or robust pole assignment problem for linear periodic discrete-time systems. The proposed approach uses a periodic Sylvester-equation-based parametrization of the periodic pole assignment ...
