Back-electron transfer suppresses the periodic length dependence of DNA-mediated charge transport across adenine tracts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
DNA-mediated charge transport (CT) is exquisitely sensitive to the integrity of the bridging π-stack and is characterized by a shallow distance dependence. These properties are obscured by poor coupling between the donor/acceptor pair and the DNA bridge,

Abelian bordered factors and periodicity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A finite word u is said to be bordered if u has a proper prefix which is also a suffix of u, and unbordered otherwise. Ehrenfeucht and Silberger proved that an infinite word is purely periodic if and only if it contains only finitely many unbordered ...

The fine structure of the rotational periods of the solar mean magnetic field

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2021
The data of mean magnetic field (MMF) of the Sun obtained at the Wilcox Solar Observatory (Stanford, USA) in 1975–2020 are analysed. It was concluded that the MMF maximum occurs, on average, 1.5–2 years later relative to the maximum of Wolf numbers.

Periodicity Pitch Perception

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2020
This study presents a computational model to reproduce the biological dynamics of “listening to music.” A biologically plausible model of periodicity pitch detection is proposed and simulated.

High-speed rail network and periodic timetable: a comparative analysis of operational concepts

open access: yesActa Polytechnica CTU Proceedings, 2021
This paper compares chosen European high-speed railway (HS) networks in terms of their offer of HS passenger service. The criteria chosen for comparison are network topology, degree of service periodicity and degree of coordination between subsequent ...

PERIODIC ENVIRONMENTS AND PERIODIC HARVESTING

open access: yesNatural Resource Modeling, 2003
ABSTRACT. We consider autonomous population models under periodic harvesting and population models in periodic environments and seek conditions under which there is an asymptotically stable periodic solution.

Periodicity and Quasi-Periodicity for Super-Integrable Hamiltonian Systems

open access: yes, 2004
Classical trajectories are calculated for two Hamiltonian systems with ring shaped potentials. Both systems are super-integrable, but not maximally super-integrable, having four globally defined single valued integrals of motion each.

Periodic Modules with Large Periods [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1979
Let G be a nonabelian group of order p 3 {p^3} and exponent p, where p is an odd prime. Let K be a field of characteristic p. In this paper it is proved that there exist periodic KG-modules whose periods are 2p. Some examples of such modules are constructed.

Proposed Detection of the Topological Phase in Ring-Shaped Semiconductor-Superconductor Nanowires Using Coulomb Blockade Transport

open access: yes, 2012
In semiconductor-superconductor hybrid structures a topological phase transition is expected as a function of chemical potential or magnetic field strength.
