From Mechanoelectric Conversion to Tissue Regeneration: Translational Progress in Piezoelectric Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent progress in piezoelectric materials for regenerative medicine, emphasizing their ability to convert mechanical stimuli into bioelectric signals that promote tissue repair. Key discussions cover the intrinsic piezoelectric properties of biological tissues, co‐stimulation cellular mechanisms for tissue regeneration, and ...

BMP-2 mRNA-transfected BMSCs promote superior calvarial bone regeneration

open access: yesScientific Reports
Large critical-size bone defects in the oral and craniofacial region are difficult to regenerate. We evaluated the effectiveness of mRNA encoding bone morphogenic protein-2 (BMP-2) in enhancing bone regeneration using a rat calvarial defect model.

Periodontal Disease

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biomedical Investigation, 2018
To establish the treatment or prevention of an illness will always be necessary the eradication of all etiological factors, and/or increase host local resistance and/or improve the overall resistance of the host against all etiologic factors, and/or promote a control of etiological factors at levels below their potential for aggression capable of being

Achondroplasia and periodontal disease

open access: yesJournal of Indian Society of Periodontology, 2012
Achondroplasia is a non-lethal form of chondrodysplasia. It is a disturbance of endochondral bone formation which results in characteristic dwarfism. It is transmitted as an autosomal dominant trait, with complete penetrance. De novo mutations cause up to 90% of cases. The mutation rate is estimated to be 0.000014 per gamete per generation.

Adjusting Cell‐Surface Interactions Through a Covalent Immobilization of Biomolecules

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This review presents an overview of current and emerging immobilization techniques coupled with an in‐depth investigation of the underlying mechanisms governing the activity and stability of covalently immobilized biomolecules. The aim of this study is to serve as a guide for the development of long‐lasting biomedical coatings with versatile biological

M2 Macrophage‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles Reprogram Immature Neutrophils into Anxa1hi Neutrophils to Enhance Inflamed Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that M2‐EVs mitigate periodontitis‐induced bone resorption by modulating neutrophil fate. Single‐cell RNA sequencing identified an Anxa1hi neutrophil subpopulation with pro‐reparative properties. M2‐EVs disrupt neutrophil maturation, promoting this subpopulation through key reprogramming genes (Acvrl1, Fpr2). These findings highlight

Research progress on the association between periodontitis and the aging population [PDF]

open access: yes口腔疾病防治
Recently, there has been a growing focus on investigating the influence of periodontitis on the aging population. There is epidemiological evidence that indicates periodontitis is associated with mortality, and it has been shown to accelerate the ...

Smoking and Periodontal Disease [PDF]

open access: yesMateria Socio Medica, 2012
Periodontitis is a group of inflammatory diseases affecting the supporting tissues of the tooth (periodontium). The periodontium consists of four tissues : gingiva, alveolar bone and periodontal ligaments. Tobbaco use is one of the modifiable risk factors and has enormous influance on the development, progres and tretmen results of periodontal disease.

Periodontal Disease: A Risk Factor for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease, initiated by the presence of a bacterial biofilm, called dental plaque, which affects both the periodontal ligaments and bone surrounding teeth.
