Mandibular Incisor Position Changes do not Explain Increase in Keratinized Gingiva Height after Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Purpose This study aimed to reexamine the relationship between mandibular incisor inclination, prominence and vertical changes in position, and keratinized gingival tissue (KT) height changes labial to the mandibular incisors after orthodontic treatment

Osteoclast-Driven Osteogenesis, Bone Remodeling and Biomaterial Resorption: A New Profile of BMP2-CPC-Induced Alveolar Bone Regeneration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
This bedside-to-bench study aimed to systematically investigate the value of applying BMP2-loaded calcium phosphate cement (BMP2-CPC) in the restoration of large-scale alveolar bone defects. Compared to deproteinized bovine bone (DBB), BMP2-CPC was shown

TH17–Associated Polyamine Metabolism‐Guided Nanozyme Promotes Alveolar Bone Repair in Periodontitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pronounced TH17‐skewed immune response is identified in experimental periodontitis, and enrichment of the polyamine pathway is observed during TH17 differentiation, suggesting its potential as an immunometabolic target. Inspired by these findings, DFMO@Ui‐Mn is developed as a therapeutic platform combining cascade ROS scavenging with immunometabolic ...

Effects of testosterone and high‐dose anabolic steroids on orthodontic‐induced bone remodeling and root resorption: An animal study

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study investigates the impact of disruptions in testosterone levels on bone remodeling, root resorption, and periodontal ligament (PDL) during orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) in a pubertal male rat model. Methods Testosterone deficiency was induced through orchiectomy, and the anabolic‐androgenic steroid (AAS, testosterone ...

Cell Therapy for Periodontal, Soft‐Tissue, and Craniofacial Regeneration

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
The clinical translation of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) represents a major advancement in dentistry, especially for periodontal, soft‐tissue, and craniofacial regeneration. However, several challenges remain to be addressed, including the absence of standardised protocols, limited scalability, regulatory hurdles, a lack of well‐controlled ...

Stem Cells From Dental Pulp, Periodontal Tissues, and Other Oral Sources: Biological Concepts and Regenerative Potential

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
A graphical abstract recapping the different sources of dental, periodontal, and other oral‐derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and their regenerative mechanisms and potentials. The review's article findings bridge fundamental biological science with translational advances, highlighting the significance of MSCs in craniofacial regenerative ...

Phloridzin Mitigates Aging‐Associated Periodontitis by Restraining Inflammatory Cell Death

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
Phloridzin attenuated oxidative stressinduced senescence, inflammatory responses, and osteogenic dysfunction in HPDLCs. In an aging‐associated experimental periodontitis model, phloridzin alleviated alveolar bone loss, suggesting its potential to maintain periodontal tissue integrity under aging‐related inflammatory conditions.
