Dynamics of Alloplastic Bone Grafts on an Early Stage of Corticotomy-Facilitated Orthodontic Tooth Movement in Beagle Dogs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Alveolar augmented corticotomy is effective in accelerating orthodontic tooth movement, but the effect only lasts for a relatively short time. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the underlying biology of the immediate periodontal ...

Periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontics

open access: yesAPOS Trends in Orthodontics, 2016
This case report demonstrates an orthodontic method that offers short treatment time and the ability to simultaneously reshape and increase the buccolingual thickness of the supporting alveolar bone. A 23-year-old female with Angle’s Class I moderately to severely crowded malocclusion with periodontal pocket with 31 and reduced thickness of the buccal ...

Hyperlipidemia Aggravates Alveolar Bone Loss via Periodontal Ligament Stem Cell Ferroptosis Through GSK3β Dependent Ubiquitin‐Mediated NRF2 Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lipid metabolic stress triggers ferroptosis in PDLSCs through the GSK3β/NRF2 pathway, thereby aggravating periodontal bone loss. Upregulated GSK3β promotes NRF2 ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation via β‐TrCP, suppressing NRF2 nuclear translocation and antioxidant target expression.

Root resorption following periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontics

open access: yesAPOS Trends in Orthodontics, 2016
Background Literature evidence suggests that root resorption, an adverse side effect of orthodontic therapy, may be decreased under conditions of alveolar osteopenia, a condition characterized by diminished bone density and created secondary to alveolar corticotomy (Cort) surgery.

L-PRF: A “Super” Biomaterial for Naturally Guided Hard/Soft Tissue Bioengineering and Regeneration of Oro-Dental, Periodontal and Jaw Defects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Leukocyte and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) is a 3-D autogenous biomaterial derived via simple and rapid centrifugation of whole blood patient samples, in the absence of anti-coagulants, bovine thrombin, additives or any gelifying agents. A relatively new

Effects of testosterone and high‐dose anabolic steroids on orthodontic‐induced bone remodeling and root resorption: An animal study

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study investigates the impact of disruptions in testosterone levels on bone remodeling, root resorption, and periodontal ligament (PDL) during orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) in a pubertal male rat model. Methods Testosterone deficiency was induced through orchiectomy, and the anabolic‐androgenic steroid (AAS, testosterone ...

Correction of unilateral scissor bite using Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Indian Orthodontic Society, 2014
This article is regarding a case report presenting a true unilateral posterior crossbite in an adolescent patient, a challenging mal occlu sion to treat. Conventional expansion methods are expec ted to have some of its shortcomings. The aim of this paper is to introduce a technique for treating unilateral posterior crossbite in an adolescent or adult ...
