Background The purpose of the current study was to clarify the sensitivity and complication rate of the radial (endobronchial ultrasound, EBUS) without the use of guide-sheath (GS) and fluoroscopy for lung cancer (LC), by measuring the distance from the ...

Endobronchial ultrasonography with guide-sheath for peripheral pulmonary lesions [PDF]
The usefulness of endobronchial ultrasonography (EBUS) with guide-sheath (GS) as a guide for transbronchial biopsy (TBB) for diagnosing peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPL)s and for improving diagnostic accuracy was evaluated in this study.EBUS-GS-guided TBB was performed in 24 patients with 24 PPLs of ≤30 mm in diameter (average diameter=18.4 mm).

Background: A peripheral, bronchoscopically invisible pulmonary lesion is a diagnostic challenge. Transthoracic needle aspiration has long been the investigation of choice but runs the risk of pneumothorax (up to 44%).

A pulmonary artery false aneurysm after right middle lobectomy: a case report [PDF]
Pulmonary artery false aneurysm is a rare condition, reported to complicate interventional procedures. We report a case of a false aneurysm of the interlobar pulmonary artery following a right middle lobectomy for lung cancer.

Radial probe endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) helps in the evaluation and sampling of peripheral pulmonary lesions (nodules, masses, consolidation), and has been demonstrated a safer alternative to computed tomography guided procedure, especially in ...

Background Radial endobronchial ultrasound (R-EBUS)-guided transbronchial biopsy (TBB) is a common diagnostic modality for peripheral pulmonary lesions; however, there is uncertainty about the optimal sequence of TBB and bronchial brushing during the ...

Lung Cancer in Pulmonary Fibrosis: Tales of Epithelial Cell Plasticity [PDF]
Lung epithelial cells exhibit a high degree of plasticity. Alterations to lung epithelial cell function are critically involved in several chronic lung diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis.

Radial EndoBronchial UltraSound (R‐EBUS)‐guided biopsies are a promising biopsy technique for pulmonary nodules suspected of lung cancer with great safety profile. Programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD‐L1) testing is increasingly demanded from lung biopsies.

Robotic-assisted bronchoscopy in the diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary lesions
More peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) are detected by low-dose helical computed tomography (CT) either incidentally or via dedicated lung cancer screening programs. Thus, using methods for safe and accurate diagnosis of these lesions has become increasingly important.

Diagnostic usefulness of bronchoscopy for peripheral pulmonary lesions in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis [PDF]
As lung cancers arising in a background of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) are known to show high malignancy grades, early pathologic diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) is important. Meanwhile, the risk of complications associated with diagnostic procedures is high, which prompted us to investigate the role of bronchoscopy, a ...
