We estimated group density of agile gibbons (Hylobates agilis) in Ulu Muda Forest Reserve, Malaysia at 4.03 ± 0.14 groups km−2, with an estimated total of 2927 ± 102 groups in areas below 450 m a.s.l. Group density did not differ significantly among habitat types.

Logged forests can provide an important refuge for many common bat species in Southeast Asia, but do not capture the full breadth of forest‐specialist species. Nevertheless, logged forests provide substantially better habitat for bats than tree plantations.

Tropical peatlands in Indonesia have been drained to allow farmer access and improve farm yields, but we found no trade‐offs between drainage depth, yields and bird diversity on smallholder oil palm farms in our study landscape within the studied range of drainage depths.
