Permanent Displacement of Sand With Cyclic Loading

Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, 1984
This paper presents a numerical model for calculating permanent strains and stresses in sand caused by cyclic loading. The model is fitted to the results of drained static and cyclic triaxial tests. The model can predict permanent stresses and strains resulting from drained or undrained cyclic loading under various boundary conditions.

Percutaneous Transcatheter Repositioning of Displaced Permanent Pacemaker Lead

Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1999
In three patients, two with a pacemaker and one with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator, hospitalized for dislodgement of a passive fixation J‐shaped atrial lead, a percutaneous transcatheter repositioning was successfully attempted thus avoiding surgical revision. This procedure, performed through the femoral vein, is easy and safe.

Traumatic displacement of maxillary permanent incisor into the nasal cavity

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2009
The purpose of this paper was to describe a case of unviable alveolar repositioning of an intruded tooth into the nasal cavity and to bring the subject of intrusive tooth injury among patients with dentoalveolar fractures to the attention of trauma surgeons.A 26-year-old male was involved in a car accident and crashed his mouth against the dashboard ...

Catheter Aided Repositioning of a Displaced Permanent Pacemaker Lead

Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1995
A 91‐ year‐old woman, who had a pacemaker implanted in 1977, underwent replacement of a pulse generator and lead in 1995 because of recurrent syncope. The new lead dislodged the next day and migrated to the pulmonary artery. Because of her dependence on continued pacing, repeated resuscitation was required.

Displacement is permanent for the Sahrawi refugees

The Lancet, 2005
Exiled from their homelands during a long-running war with Morocco the Sahrawi people have spent the past 30 years living in refugee camps. But permanent displacement has taken a heavy toll on their health. Samuel Loewenberg travelled to the Western Sahara to find out more. Refugee camps are supposed to be temporary domiciles.

Permanent Displacements Due to Cyclic Wave Loading

Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1981
The permanent deformation of soils as the result of cyclic loads is an important consideration in the design of offshore structures. Experimental studies show that the permanent strains are influenced by the porosity, the intitial shear and effective normal stresses, and the amplitude of the cyclic shear stress, as well as by the number of cycles of ...
