Catheter Aided Repositioning of a Displaced Permanent Pacemaker Lead
Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1995A 91‐ year‐old woman, who had a pacemaker implanted in 1977, underwent replacement of a pulse generator and lead in 1995 because of recurrent syncope. The new lead dislodged the next day and migrated to the pulmonary artery. Because of her dependence on continued pacing, repeated resuscitation was required.

Displacement is permanent for the Sahrawi refugees
The Lancet, 2005Exiled from their homelands during a long-running war with Morocco the Sahrawi people have spent the past 30 years living in refugee camps. But permanent displacement has taken a heavy toll on their health. Samuel Loewenberg travelled to the Western Sahara to find out more. Refugee camps are supposed to be temporary domiciles.

Permanent Displacements Due to Cyclic Wave Loading
Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1981The permanent deformation of soils as the result of cyclic loads is an important consideration in the design of offshore structures. Experimental studies show that the permanent strains are influenced by the porosity, the intitial shear and effective normal stresses, and the amplitude of the cyclic shear stress, as well as by the number of cycles of ...

Evaluation of Permanent Landslide Displacement Induced by Earthquake
2012 Fifth International Conference on Intelligent Computation Technology and Automation, 2012Because of differences in geological structure, litho logy and weathering degree of slope, there is double-decked exist in space composing of the slope, it is also called potential sliding surface. So, the seismic behavior of slope is hard to synchronize with each other. Upper layer of the slope will produce permanent displacement, and it will decrease

Reliability of Structural Systems with Regard to Permanent Displacements
1991In this paper the problem of estimating the accumulated permanent displacements of an offshore platform during one storm is considered. For dynamically sensitive structural systems subjected to wave loads this problem is generally very difficult. However, for dynamic insensitive systems some methods/experience related to permanent deformations are ...

Stability Fronts of Permanent Form in Immiscible Displacement
SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1984ABSTRACT The theory of stability of plane saturation fronts of permanent form in mathematical models of immiscible displacement that was presented in SPE 12691 is developed further. Stability of the saturation profile to normal modes of smal1-amplitude perturbations in pressures and saturation is found by solving the generalized ...

Therapeutic outcome assessment in permanent temporomandibular joint disc displacement
Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 1999In permanent temporomandibular disc displacement (TMJ‐DD) outcome studies many authors claim positive effects of arthroscopic surgery, arthrocentesis and physical therapy. This literature review was undertaken to analyse whether the claimed effects are based on acceptable methodology.

Permanent Displacement and Deformation of Liquefied Subsoil
2008In 1984 a permanent lateral displacement was detected in a gentle slope in Noshiro City where a substantial liquefaction developed at the time of the 1983 Nihonkai Chubu earthquake (Hamada et al. 1986). Since the displacement was significant, exceeding 4 m at maximum, gas pipelines embedded in the area were broken in such manners as separation at ...

Improving Structural Response to Permanent Ground Displacement
Practice Periodical on Structural Design and Construction, 2001Structural damage due to permanent ground displacement is a common occurrence during seismic events. Light-frame structures, typical of residential construction, seem both particularly susceptible to and easily reinforced against moderate ground failure. Because the foundations of these structures typically receive little or no engineering attention, a

Application of a Probabilistic Assessment of the Permanent Seismic Displacement of a Slope
Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2018AbstractPredicting the seismic performance of slopes involves an assessment of the expected permanent sliding displacement induced by ground shaking.
