Uncontrolled generation in interior permanent magnet machines [PDF]

open access: yesConference Record of the 2004 IEEE Industry Applications Conference, 2004. 39th IAS Annual Meeting., 2004
The movement toward higher power automotive electrical systems has spurred research into low-cost alternators capable of operating over a wide constant-power speed range. A promising candidate for this application is a specially designed interior permanent-magnet (IPM) machine operating in uncontrolled generation (UCG).

Current Tracking Adaptive Control of Brushless DC Motors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
In this paper, the current tracking for Brushless Direct Current motors is approached considering uncertainty in the parameters of the motor's model. An adaptive control scheme to compensate electrical parameters uncertainty is proposed without requiring any knowledge of the mechanical parameters.

Comparison of Stator-Permanent-Magnet Brushless Machines [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2008
This paper quantitatively compares two emerging stator-permanent-magnet (PM) machines, namely, the doubly salient PM and the PM hybrid brushless types. Both of them are attractive for electric vehicles and wind power generation. For comparison, both machines adopt the outer-rotor 36/24-pole topology and are designed based on the same peripheral ...

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Core Loss Analysis of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines under SVPWM Excitation with Considering Saturation

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
Core loss is one of the significant factors affecting the high power density of permanent magnet machines; thus, it is necessary to consider core loss in machine design. This paper presents a novel method for calculating the core loss of permanent magnet

A General Pattern-Based Design Optimization for Asymmetric Spoke-Type Interior PM Machines

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
A novel asymmetric spoke-type interior permanent magnet (AS-IPM) machine is proposed in this paper. It utilizes the magnetic-field-shifting (MFS) effect to improve the torque performance, which achieves a high utilization ratio of both permanent magnet ...

New axial laminated-structure flux-switching permanent magnet machine with 6/7 poles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, one new axially laminated-structure flux-switching permanent magnet machine (ALSFSPMM) with 6/7 (stator/rotor) poles is proposed. Different from the conventional flux-switching permanent magnet machine (FSPMM), the stator and rotor of ...

3D‐Printed Giant Magnetoresistive (GMR) Sensors Based on Self Compliant Springs

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores 3D‐printed GMR sensors utilizing self‐compliant spring structures and conductive PLA composites. By optimizing arm width, we achieved high piezoresistive (0.34%/mm) and magnetoresistive (0.77%/mT) sensitivities. Demonstrated through Bluetooth‐integrated pressure and magnetic position sensing, these full printed low‐cost, customizable

Review of Variable-flux Permanent Magnet Machines [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of international Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2011
Variable-flux permanent-magnet machines (VFPM) are of great interest and many different machine topologies have been documented. This paper categorizes VFPM machine topologies with regard to the method of flux variation and further, in the case of hybrid excited machines with field coils, with regard to the location of the excitation sources.
