Simulation of current control for a permanent magnet spherical stepper motor
2007 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2007In order to control the permanent magnet spherical stepper motor effectively and to alleviate the steady-state errors, programmable current sources were applied to control the magnitude of the currents in the stator coils instead of controlling the motor with relays.

Current optimization of 3-DOF permanent magnet spherical motor
2011 6th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications, 2011This paper presents a novel two level current optimization algorithm for the control of the spherical motor. The proposed spherical motor consists of a rotor with 8 cylindrical permanent magnet (PM) poles and a stator with 24 air-core coils. An analytical expression of the torque model is obtained based on finite-element method.

Levitation Force Analysis for Spherical Permanent Magnet Bearingless Motor
2011This paper presents a synthesis method of magnetic levitation force in spherical permanent magnet (PM) motor, which overcomes the adverse impact of friction torque because there is no direct contact between the stator and rotor. Using the theorem of force translation, Lorentz force of a single coil is equivalent to a force and a moment of couple ...

Magnetic Field Model for Permanent Magnet Spherical Motor With Double Polyhedron Structure
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2017This paper presents an analytical method for calculating the magnetic field for a permanent magnet spherical motor (PMSM) with double polyhedron structure. For the PMSM, stator coils and cylindrical permanent magnet (PM) poles locate at the fixed point of octahedron and hexahedron, respectively, and provide the uniform magnetic field.

Methodology of prediction the rotor position of spherical permanent magnet synchronous motor
2015 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2015This paper has more information about how to detect rotor position of the spherical motor is designed to be driven multi-degrees of freedom. Installed the encoders at rotating shafts of the guide frame spherical motor was developed as a prototype for this study in order to analyze correctly the position of the spherical motor and is designed to perform

Modeling and simulation of a permanent magnetic spherical motor based on solidworks and ADAMS
2015 IEEE 10th Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2015As the shortcomings of multi-rigid-body mathematical modeling for permanent magnetic spherical motor (PMSM), such as the complexities vary greatly and even lead to considerable deviations from the actual system. A novel physical modeling method and dynamic simulation based on computer software are proposed in this paper.
