Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor
2020The mathematical three-phase model of these motors is obtained. Then the standard dq or Park’s transformation is derived and applied to obtain the standard motor dq dynamical model. These results are employed to solve the velocity and position regulation problem. A pendulum is included as a load in the position control problem.

Nonregenerative Braking of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2020This article proposes nonregenerative braking algorithm for the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), suitable for low-cost drive equipped with the front-end diode rectifier. The algorithm is based on the selection of braking trajectories with maximum iron and copper losses, while keeping dc-bus voltage at the acceptable level and with operational

Analysis of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Fault Diagnosis Based on Learning
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2019This paper presents an effective diagnosis algorithm for permanent magnet synchronous motors running with an array of faults of varying severity over a wide speed range. The fault diagnosis is based on a current signature analysis.

A Simple Current-Constrained Controller for Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, 2019Under the noncascade structure, a permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) regulates the speed and current in one loop. On the one hand, fast dynamic performance requires large transient current to provide a high torque.

Efficient MPC for permanent magnet synchronous motor
2017 25th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation (MED), 2017The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) control poses a challenging task since the dynamics of the system is nonlinear, there are hard constraints, and computational costs should be kept as low as possible. One way how to satisfy all of the requirements is to use the model predictive control (MPC) with a small length of short horizon in the MPC ...

Parameter identification of a permanent magnet synchronous motor
53rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2014In this article, the problem of parameter identification and state estimation for synchronous motors is tackled by means of the combination of algebraic techniques, in the context of a step by step approach. The step by step procedure consists in separating the estimation problem in three subsequent steps, in such a manner that it is possible to carry ...

Analysis of brushless permanent magnet synchronous motors
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 1996A brief design review of permanent magnet synchronous motors has been presented. A procedure has been developed to predict the steady state and dynamic performances of a brushless permanent magnet synchronous motor. Finite element analysis has been combined with a lumped parameter circuit model in order to provide satisfactory engineering information ...

Chaos control in permanent magnet synchronous motor
2004 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37512), 2004The performance of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) degrades due to chaos when its parameters fall into a certain area. Therefore, chaos should be suppressed or eliminated. The drawbacks of the existing control methods are analyzed. The nonlinear feedback principle is developed by using the direct-axis and the quadrature-axis stator ...

Overview of Bearingless Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motors
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2013Bearingless permanent-magnet (PM) synchronous motors (BPMSMs) are a new type of machines combining the characteristics of conventional PM synchronous motors and magnetic bearings. With ever-increasing concerns on applications, such as high-speed electric machines, canned pumps, high-speed-precision mechanical processing, aeronautics and astronautics ...
