Multi-source traction drive for axial flux permanent magnet in-wheel synchronous motor

In this paper, a high performance dynamic control for traction drives fed by fuel cells and supercapacitor is presented. A tandem converter connected to a permanent magnet in-wheel synchronous motor is considered as drive. The adopted control allows to achieve good power responses for the drive without overloading the fuel cell stack.

A control scheme is presented for the robust performance of permanent magnet synchronous motor drives in the presence of voltage and current constraints. Strategies like Maximum Torque per Ampere (MTPA) are straightforward to implement and the approach is well suited for field-weakening and full voltage utilization of the inverter.
